let's go to meteorologist angie lassman for the latest forecast. angie, what do we have going on?u had me laughing with that batman reference. you know what we've got going on, hurricane lee. i feel like we've been talking about this system for eternity. category 2 hurricane lee, winds at 100 miles per hour right now, and we do have those alerts up. no warnings as of right now, but we do have tropical storm watches and hurricane watches remain in effect down to rhode island. those effects remain as the hurricane rolls on and into tomorrow and we'll start to see as the system gets closer and more likely friday for those to be issued. either way we'll see impacts for folks in bermuda and parts of the southeast will see still that rip current risk, the erosion and high surf, not a great couple of days for you to be out in the water on the east coast. we're going to continue to see the system weaken and dryer air, so it does weaken, but that doesn't really limit the impacts of the system. i think those will be far reaching. when you see that orange color, that's the tropical storm for

cold front moving east, bringing rain from the great lakes to the northeast nbc meteorologist angie lassman has her eye on this and other unstable systems angie, good morning. >> it's going to be an unsettled start for a lot of folks across country. showers expected from texas all the way into portions of michigan and that cold front's going to work its way to the east leaving us with unsettled conditions especially across parts of the northeast there's slow-moving cold front it does have a low risk for severe weather so we're not so much looking at strong storms. heavy rain on top of already-saturated ground we'll see that stick with us for tomorrow, too, so it will be something to watch one other thing we watching, hurricane lee, right now category 3 moving northwest at 7 miles per hour the latest track takes it just to the west of bermuda it does look to take a turn to the north over the next 24 hoursish in the meantime, it will continue to weaken, but we'll start to see as it moves to the north it expanding its wind field. that leaves us with the concern for rip current risk up and down

first let's get a look at the labor day forecast with angie lassman. >> i have a feeling a lot of peopleffett. a couple of spots along the gulf coast with the midwest and out west with showers and monsoon showers that will be across the southwest for the next couple days. look at this. this is what we like to see on saturday morning of the holiday weekend. green across the board when it comes to flights. nice on the roads as well. the only thing i want you to be aware of if you are headed to the east coast, we have storms in the atlantic churning up the waters and creating rip currents. high surf as well. if you get caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore. here are the storms. we have post tropical storm idalia sitting in parts of bermuda and impacting people there. we have remnants of jose and katia. we will watch those. we will watch invest 94-l move into the atlantic. guys. >>> angie, thank you. >> the beaches are certain to be packed this weekend, but there is a threat looming for swimmers with the rip current warnings up and down the east coast. george solis is in seaside he

our meteorologist angie lassman is tracking it all. angie, when will this come to our shore? >> it depends what we are talking about with the impact. we are looking at indirect impact to the east coast. high surf and rip current. we have a fish storm with margot. we have winds down to 115 miles an hour. it was a cat 5 yesterday. we are expecting weakening with the system before it gets its strength back up. the good news for the leeward island and hispanola with the high surf and rip current risk. we are expecting it to be a category 4 storm and then next week, taking a turn to the north. models are in good agreement to the turn to the north. impacts to bermuda and the east coast are not ruled out. as of right now, the american model with the spaghetti plots to show us what will happen. the european model agrees with that. taking the northerly turn. when it takes the turn is the big question, guys, it has a low pressure and high pressure that are playing tug-of-war. >> angie, thank you for that. we will check back in later. >>> president biden is overseas with the g20 with th

nbc news meteorologist angie lassman has it all covered. angie, let's start with hurricane lee. what's the latest forecast at this hour? >> we're expecting it to continue to rapidly intensify. it was in a bit of a lull as far as intensification is considered. that's not going to last. we're going to continue to see kind of a little better, well, more defined eye starting to show through, and it's going to enter some really warm water. while it's a category 1 right now with winds at 80 miles per hour, that is going to increase and we'll likely see a category 4 down the line. it is right now moving northwest at 13 miles per hour, and it's just under a thousand miles to the east of the northern leeward islands. those are some areas we're going to watch here. here's why i say indirect. as it becomes a category 4, it's fwog stay north of these islands. that doesn't mean we couldn't see some impacts as far as some outer rain bands or tropical storm force winds. the track error with the national hurricane center cone is about 90 miles. tropical storm force winds extend about 90 miles.

time now for the weather and let's to angie lassman for the forecast.tion i have the rest of the day will be about aaron rogers. >> i have no doubt about that. how about we talk a little bit about what's going on weather wise. that could also be a water cooler conversation if you're not into the giants issues last night. we got some showers and thunderstorms stretched across the middle of the country extending basically down midwest through texas. a bit of a soggy morning. a cold front is going to slowy make its way to the east and folks had a soggy weekend and soggy start to the workweek. we'll see a low risk of severe weather, but that heavy rain a possibility. pretty impressive rainfall rates at times 1 to 2 inches per hour. we'll see significant rainfall especially the further north up you go. i think social media has been talking all about hurricane lee, and we're not done with this system just yet. we still have about another five days or so where we will watch this specifically for impacts to parts of the united states. i'll tell you why. right n
