nbc meteorologist angie lassman with the first forecast of the new month, angie, good morning. >> harde in november, ladies. you're exactly right. we dohave chilly temperatures, frigid air coming from canada and it made a big difference in your halloween plans. notice how many people are dealing with those early morning temperatures at or below freezing. we're talking 170 million people, basically nearly coast-to-coast. just the extreme portions of the east coast, the south and west coast not seeing those conditions. but otherwise, you are going to need the layers this morning. we've also got the 80 million people included this those frost and freeze alerts that you mentioned. and temperatures sitting right now, 20s for some spots, with wichita feeling like the 20s, st. louis and chicago, and even teens for sioux falls. it's going to stay that way at least into the afternoon hours. we'll see a little improvement into the 40s or 50s in some of these spots. places like knoxville ended up 50 degrees. these temperatures about 15 degrees below normal for this time of year. and we keep that

let's bring in meteorologist angie lassman. angie, we've been talking a lot in the north east.weekends. is that streak in jeopardy this weekend? >> is that a technical stat or -- the good news is, yes, we're going to see that broken this weekend and see plenty of sunshine. we'll have to deal with the chilly weather between now and then. here's the deal right now. 20s for a lot of folks across the midatlantic and stretching down to the south. we've got 30s. jackson, mississippi, this morning sitting at 29 degrees. we'll see some potential record lows across this region and by this afternoon barely making it into the upper 40s. a lot of spots like rich mrnd, new york will hit mid-50s and a couple of 60s out there. for now running way below normal this time of year not just today but tomorrow in some spots. we will start to see it warm up back to those normal typical temperatures for early november. then by the weekend cherk this out low 60s for sunday, monday. richmond get back to the mid-70s and see cleveland so the weekend looking a lot better. one heads up, we do have a whole

time now for the weather, and let's go to meteorologist angie lassman who's up there at 30 rock for usrecast. angie, how's it looking? >> you know what, it's looking like spring, jonathan. we've got warm temperatures, potentially record breaking temperatures across the country. notice we have a bit of mountain snow we're going to battle across the north west and windy conditions for parts of new england, really northern new england. but let's talk about those temperatures. we are running 20 to even 30 degrees above normal this time of year, and temperatures across much of the southern plains upper 80s to low 90s. roswell blows away the record most likely by this afternoon with a high of 90 degrees and 85 in jackson. a lot of folks will potentially see this for multiple days, too. so shorts and t-shirt is something you might want to have out today and tomorrow. most of the southern tier of the country will end up in those low to mid-80s but places like collin station 87 degrees tomorrow. as far north as charleston upper 70s to low 80s across parts of indiana. the good news is by the wee

it could be a messy ride with storms set to snarl some trims.lassman is tracking meteorologist angie lassmanacking today's weather for us. angie, good morning. give us some good news, if you can. >>> to start off, i do have good news from the airports, notice all of the grown on the map across the country no delays san francisco to new new york down to the gulf coast. we have a storm system working its way east and 18 million people already this morning are under winter alerts including chicago, des moines, syracuse, cleveland, all under alerts this morning. we could likely see that number grow as this storm system continues its way into parts of the midwest and eventually parts of the northeast and southeast could get into some rain through the day today, chicago to detroit, the potential to see additional snowfall across the great lakes. we'll also see kind of a low push in moisture in the mid-atlantic and southeast the roads will be wet there. slick across parts of the midwest even into tomorrow, too. we have got this lake-effect snow that's really going to ramp up the snow totals, and we

we want to get to meteorologist angie lassman with the latest. you're not just hosting the holiday, you're hosting all of us with your forecast. what's it going to look like? >> i don't want to disappoint with my meal or forecast. let's talk about real quick what's happening today. if you're getting an early head start, california is going to be the spot, especially northern california that will pick up on a little rain. nothing too impressive. as we get into sunday and then especially monday, we start to see another system, a low pressure system merging out of colorado. this is going to be kind of the troublemaker for the extended period. sunday to monday we'll see the storm intensify. it does bring stronger storms from texas and toward the gulf coast. we'll watch for that to be impactful. look at this heavy rain that spreads across the east coast as we get to tuesday. strong winds will develop, gusty conditions from the midwest to northeast, we'll see a wintery mix working in as well. the good news is this starts to exit by the time we get into
