anne, good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. the building is still standing here behind me and some of the people who live there have been able to go in and get some of their things and bring them out because they are not going to be able to live there for some time. that is after a fire ripped through that top story early this morning. >> you think it only happens in the movies but it's really that vivid. so grab what you can, get out the door. >> reporter: this is cell phone video from the building across the street as flames shot from the roof of two apartment buildings on 24th and bartlett. these residents were evacuated at around 4:30 a.m. after the fire started on the top floor. >> filled with smoke, bright red. literally glass showering outside the front of the apartments from the windows popping. >> reporter: four people who lived here were injured. two were critically burned. firefighter bob coleman suffered smoke inhalation after rescuing a woman from this ledge. >> on the window and she was

our continuing coverage of a rezoning fight in anne arundel. the county council approved the comprehensive rezoning bill. not everyone's happy. one council member is pushing for the county executive to veto this. roosevelt leftwich joins us to tell us why. >> reporter: the anne arundel county council voted to approve the comprehensive new zoning plan some of the folks are not happy with the bill and they want a veto. if the comprehensive rezoning is signed, these would become large apartment or condo complexes. the areas are from r1 which would keep it at single family homes. the vote was 6-1. council member john grasso was the one. >> i told my colleague i don't care if it's one neighborhood or 50 neighborhoods. we owe it to the people to get it right. >> reporter: he said he talked to the people in the area, that the potential for traffic should have been enough to leave the zoning alone or redues the number of residences. the county executive tried to stop it but his amendment failed. he said he would think about a veto, but -- >> got one am
