the darker shading, this is a winter weather advisory for arlington, the district, anne arundel, calvert, charles and st. mary's. the advisories go until 10:00 this morning. the main concern is freezing rain. that has left an icy glaze on everything. heavy rain will melting today. most dangerous time frame is between now and 9:00 a.m. after 9:00, everybody should be well above the freezing mark, but major trouble trying to get around here early this morning. if it looks wet and you live anywhere near the metro, it is probably nothing more than a sheet of ice. from #:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., lots of rain. possibly a quick inch of rain in addition to the frozen ground and the snow melt, flooding will be a concern and a possibility today. so flood watches are up until 11:00 tonight. first thing this morning, freezing rain and freezing drizzle martinsburg to charles town to leesburg. closer to the metro, not much falling out of the sky currently, but that may change very soon. look at the pinch of moisture that is coming our way. a powerhouse line of heavy thunderstorms here moving in to raleigh now.

warnings have been pushed eastward now to include northern portion of calvert county, northern charles, anne arundel county. all the way up to hartford county, maryland. severe thunderstorms. farther south we have a tornado warning in effect. newest one. that is close to king george's county. we monitor it closely. what will happen in the next hour or two as the line of the severe weather moves east and we have individual any producing tornadoes. as that happens the threat will eventually go farther south and the east of the metro area. so, the northern neck, king george and the northern neck proper to southern maryland. they will become the target for the additional tornadic thunderstorm to develop. that is a good thing. it won't linger over one area too much longer as it moves east. doppler radar, make moves here. nasty line from pennsylvania to farther south and virginia. every now and then along the segment we will see some indication of some rotation, some notches developing. the radar picture. it will make us go and investigate. that investigation from the national weather service when

severest thunderstorm warnings, they're still up for the area, eastern charles county, southern areas of prince george's county, anne arundel, north calvert, in northern areas of st. mary's. that's the yellow that you're seeing. and also on the map, that is right up into areas of baltimore still in hartford county the severe thunderstorm warnings. that's the yellow. the dark red, where we still have some flash flood warnings occurring to include right there, just west of d.c. for, i believe it is backlit creek, reports of some flooding in and around that area. so, again, those are the colors that you're seeing right now on our radar and what they actually mean. the latest warning, again, st. mary's, calvert county, the tornado warning that goes up until 7:45. so, we're going to be tracking this storm system until it's out of here, until it makes its way out over the bay, continue to track that for you. some of the strongest weather now making its way right through, you can see around montrose. when i put the tracking on, as it's pushing off to the north and northeast, it will be hitting areas like leonardtown by 7:3
