for 93-year-old ann fitzgerald, it was like watching a lifetime of members destroyed. >> my parents were 1919. i came back home, this is my church. this is my church. and i'm devastated. >> at one point people watching the inferno gasped, the four-alarm fire started around 2:00 this afternoon, fortunately the 1:00 mass had eshd ended and there was no one inside. >> we noticed fire on the second floor attic space, appearing where the organ is which might have been where the heat came from. we're still researching that, but the fire moved very rapidly in the second story of this large church. >> reporter: because the church was built in 1919 there was no fire sprinkler, and the heavy timber and dry wood made the fire burn even faster. one firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. tonight the fire has tested their faith. i spoke with a pastor tonight and he said he's hoping the parishioners will work together to rebuild the church. in the meantime, both the rectory and the parish hall are still intact so there is a possibility that future masses may be held ther
