one victim is 18-year-old anna boylan. her father and brother came out and said they wanted to share her picture and share her story. she was inside the classroom when the gunman came in firing. here's what her father told us about what he experienced. >> the gentleman was systematically -- he came in and there were gun fire immediately, scattered the room, got everyone's attention. from what i understand, one shot, killed him. took him right out of it. and others had been injured and then he -- this man had enough time -- i don't know how much time elanced. he was able to stand there and start asking one by one what their religion was. are you a christian, he would ask them. and if you're a christian, stand up. because pause you're a christian, heuer going to see god in just about a if you downt downthe. >> this was a single hand gun that he had enough ammunition and enough time to drop the magazine out of it, put another one in and con continue his thing. how does he have that much time as a facility? dak, you're up. >>

she helped save fellow classmate and friend anna boylan. her brother korre told cbs news the two were next to each other during the shooting and it was fitzgerald's idea for anna to play dead. >> she played dead. she didn't breathe and after he asked her to get up a couple of times, he asked the girl sitting next to her, "is she alive?" and the girl said, "she's not with us anymore." >> reporter: boylan says those few words saved his sister's life. the family credits your daughter for saving anne's life. how does that make you feel? >> that's my daughter. that's cheyeanne. >> reporter: the shooter's family also released a statement today saying in part they are shocked and saddened by the events. jim, they also add that their thoughts, their hearts and their prayers go out to all of the victims especially families. >> axelrod: four high schoolers are under arrest in california, accused of planning a shooting at their school. police say the suspects, all students at summerville high school were in the early stages of plotting and no students

fitzgerald is credited with saving the life of another teen survivor, anna boylan, by telling her friendo play dead. bonnie fitzgerald, cheyenne's mom, sat down with me tonight to talk about her youngest child and how she learned about the shooting. >> bonnie, tell me about your daughter. what is cheyenne like? >> very energetic. on the go. >> reporter: she wants to be a nurse? >> she wants to be a nurse. >> reporter: so she was at school, her fourth day, on campus. and this happens. how did you hear about it? >> i started texting my daughter. but she wasn't replying, or responding back, which that meant -- i was going to go to the school. instead i came here, to mercy medical center. because my inside feelings brought me here. >> reporter: what was the first thing you said to cheyenne? >> i touched her, and she was cold. and she -- she was in shock, but talking, and she said, "mom" -- she didn't want me to see her in her condition. so they took me out and then she was rushed to the operating -- into the operation. >> reporter: what was going through your mind while you were waiting? >>
