i want to check in with anna cabrera, on the eastern end of long island out in montauk. ay the least. that snow just hit me in the face right in the eyeballs doesn't feel good. you can see it whipping across the road and when you point to the light, that's when you see how hard the snow is falling, and the wind blowing it sideways. we're expecting some of the strongest wind gusts to hit this peak this point of long island here on montauk, the end of long island that very eastern tip, not far from the coast of connecticut. and i just got an update on significant coastal flooding and the storm surge that's anticipated as well. we might see now 10 to 15-foot waves crashing on the shore. right now, it's two to four foot above normal levels which could cause beach erosion. but the roads, another huge concern. very treacherous at this hour getting icier, deeper snow drifts starting to pile up on the sides of roads and that's a big concern for this community that is somewhat rural, somewhat removed, a couple of hours outside of new york city and will there be enough support out

anna cabrera is on this for us from centennial colorado.is our cnn legal senior analyst jeffrey toobin. couldn't believe the 9,000 number for the jurors. why is that? >> right. 9,000. to put that in perspective, that's even more than were summoned in the boston bombing trial. but there are a few reasons here. first, this happened 2 1/2 years ago. there has been a tremendous amount of media coverage in the past couple of years regarding this high-profile case. of course, it's happening, this trial taking place in the same jurisdiction where the crime was committed. also this is a death penalty case. so people who don't believe in the death penalty are automatically going to be exkuded as potential jurors. and it's a case about sanity. james holmes pleading not guilty by reason of insanity essentially meaning he admits he was the gunman but that he didn't know what he was doing was wrong when the crime was committed. his lawyers say that he was in the middle of some kind of psychotic episode and suffering from severe mental illness when he we

we begin with anna cabrera on the new york coastline. >> reporter: rosemary errol we are on the very island. this is montauk which is a small fishing community currently getting pummelled. you see the snow just blowing all across the roadway here. this is main street. this is the downtown area. and you see not a soul in sight as the storm really bears down. this is an area expected to get two to three feet of snow by the time this is all over. and in fact that's supposed to continue well into tuesday afternoon. the biggest concerns here are not just the snow but the high winds. wind gusts that are near hurricane force, that are also pushing a huge storm surge into this island community. they are anticipating possible coastal flooding. they're anticipating possible erosion of the beach as 15-foot waves battle the shore. so there are multiple multiple challenges for this community. and power outages, that's another big concern. we saw power out for weeks after superstorm sandy. in this area. and so that is something that people are watching and waiting for to see exactly what happens.
