. >> reporter: good morning -- annandale. >> reporter: good morning. this is what you'll find as you get outside this morning. a lot of ice around. ice on your sidewalks. ice on your driveway. ice on any kind of plants, trees, and that will be causing a problem this morning with branches falling. i drove over a branch on my way over here this morning, a fairly large branch. fortunately no damage to the car but be careful out there because i think things will be falling. this is pretty heavy ice you can see. we're here on little river turnpike just east of columbia pike because there's a transformer that has blown. if you can see across the street there, this is the intersection of pine crest vista and 236 also called little river turnpike. you see those flames in the woods? i went up and took a look at them and they are branches on a wire. they just keep burning. been burning about an hour now. beyond that is a transformer. we're told by the rescue crews that were here a little bit ago that a transformer blew. i imagine there are power outages and ther

this is route 236 little river turnpike in annandale. we came here because we heard word that there's a transformer blown. take a look at this. you can actually see some trees on fire in the woods right there. this is at the intersection of little river turnpike and pine crest vista. and a few minutes ago there was a fire truck here kind of monitoring the situation. everything looks dark back there in the woods. i'm not sure if there are homes back that way and if the lights went out but i have seen patches of complete darkness on my way over here from the mclean area. on the way outside, i almost slipped. very, very slick conditions. when you hit your steps, when you hit the driveway this morning, please be careful. use extra caution because it's all ice out here, folks. take a look at this. this is what you'll find on the street, on your sidewalks. look how thick that is. on your car, it took me a while to scrape the ice off my windshield. quite a while. i had to bang at it to get it to go. look at the trees. while very, very beautiful

annandale is now at 49 degrees.o fall this evening due to the cloud cover and the approaching rain. dulles at 45. temperatures are actually going to increase just a little bit as we move through the early hours. bringain will eventually that cooler air down to the surface but temperatures will mail above freezing -- will remain above freezing. weer in the upcoming week, could be looking at something different when it comes to snow. it is 12 degrees warmer. the rain -- just across southwestern virginia pushing into the richmond area. the heaviest rain will fall tomorrow morning between about 8 a.m. and the noontime hour where we can get about an inch of rain. this is what our futurecast looks like -- 6:00 a.m. vita rain across the beltway. during the morning hours, the areas in -- and yellow is the heaviest rain. it should be out of here by 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. temperatures fall for today on monday and then another shot of cold air for the last day of 2013 on tuesday. clouds continue to increase. rain will develo
