the second four hours later in annandale. diane cho live outside a fairfax county police headquarters on the story for us tonight. diane, what are police saying about these cases? diane diane: right now, police are saying they don't have any evidence linking the two cases at this point but the investigation continues tonight and today, we learned there was another man's body found in a creek in a wooded area in annandale off of ivy mount court. police say that person suffered trauma to the upper body but haven't said much more beyond that. about 21 miles away from that location roughly four hours earlier in the day, police were called to a wooded area after sources say a group of teens found a man's body off a popular walking path near hiddenbrook drive. we talked to neighbors in the herndon area who told us they're still shaken up by the discovery. one woman told us she's now picking up her little sister at the bus stop until investigators release more information about what may have happened. >> be like aware. it doesn't hu

one in herndon and another in annandale. both also had similar injuries. in annandale, a man's body was found behind apartments in the 4300 block of ivy mount court not far from the beltway and little river turnpike by the way, police are waiting for the medical examiner's office to determine the exact cause of death. in herndon, neighbors say the body of a man was found in an area known to be a party hangout. police are also waiting for word from the medical examiner on a cause of death in that case. right now, investigators are stressing that there's no connection between the cases but they are not ruling out that possibility. alison? alison: leon a ruptured gas line in the heart of downtown d.c. sent hundreds of people out of their offices and out into the streets. and tonight, some of the lanes around 17th and m streets northwest are still closed. stephen tschida discovered the chaos stemmed from a bureaucratic mix-up? so stephen, what went wrong? stephen: well, first of all alison, six hours after this gas line ruptured here's the situation. we still

police found a man's body in a wooded area behind apartments on ivy mount court in annandale. that body was in a creek. police say the victim had trauma to his upper body. police have not identified the victim. and also developing in fairfax county right now police are investigating a suspicious death in herndon. sources tell abc 7 teenagers found a man's body in a wooded area off a popular walking trail in foley lock stream park. police say the man had injuries to his upper body and police stood guard over that site overnight keeping it secure. autria: crews continue to work this noon on repairs to a water main in prince george's county. the break flooded several homes and left a huge mess on the roads. the 10-inch main broke on cunningham drive in berwin heights. wssc finished up repairs this morning. but as jeanette reyes explains it may take longer to repair the roads. jeanette: more than 24 hours after a massive water main break, crews have taken out a segment of the broken pipe covered up that massive hole and now they're tearing up the roads. it all started with a major

carjacked two different people in fairfax county, one just blocks from the hospital, the other in annandale. he burst out of a woman's trunk and into her back seat while she was driving. >> she was standing here you need to call police, 911! >> reporter: for nine hours hundreds of heavily armed fairfax county police, the state police, the fbi, the u.s. marshals hunted him, converging on every possible sighting. >> a little scary. you look out your window and see all these police cars with policemen and their big guns, a little frightening especially for my wife. >> reporter: how he ended up on a bus in d.c. still a mystery. police say that assaye ended up in the hospital after tying one end of a bed sheet around his neck and the other around a railing on a second floor landing at the jail and then he simply jumped. that was last friday. authorities do not believe that there was a lot of preplanning involved in this escape, but they are reviewing the policy of handing off federal prisoners to private security guards at the hospital. they want to prevent a repeat. reporting live at alexandria

we were told he was arrested just last week or so for a string of robberies in the annandale area.e bandit, would use that bicycle as a getaway of sorts in those robberies. so he was locked up because of those robberies, and just recently tried to take his life. police officers, the chief telling us just a short time ago that he attempted to hurt himself, and that is why he's being transported here to a nova fairfax hospital. early this morning. it was 3:00 a.m., and he was being escorted by two prove guards. now, the chief telling us that is not normal protocol. typically a prisoner would come here to the hospital escorted by police officers. in this case, it was a private security firm, two guards that were escorting this prisoner to the hospital. some kind of fight followed, and he was able to overpower the two guards, get the gun, and take off. and so he has now, after a thorough search of the hospital, confirmed to have left the hospital and left the ground. as you have been reporting, that getaway car, a stolen vehicle, silver toyota camry that police are currently looking fo
