good evening, i'm ann notarangelo. the world saw him as a powerful, fearless leader. now we are seeing osama bin laden in a much less flattering light. the pentagon released video seized in the compound where bin laden was killed. bin laden behind the scenes. >> reporter: one of the new videos released by the u.s. government shows osama bin laden in a bare room wrapped in a blanket clicking through an onscreen menu and watches news about himself. it is unclear when the video was shot but it appears to be from inside the pakistani compound where he was killed. intelligence officials knew bin laden monitored the news but before last weekend's raid they didn't know he was still able to watch live television while in hiding. three other clips show him rehearsing to tape a prop propaganda video. one of the videos is an outstake in which bin laden appears to make a mistake with his lines. another is in front of a crude wrinkled sheikh. >> what they are trying to do is to start a narrative offensive against al-qaeda trying to send a very clear message. >> c.i.a. director rel

anne, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. several streets closed down this morning in this nopa area. i'm here along the golden gate at masonic. officers are take pictures and measurements. a 55-year-old man was killed. he was walking across turk apparently crossing masonic when he was hit by a vehicle. his body flew several yards and the driver took off. take a look at this video that we shot just a few blocks away from the crash scene where there was a secondary crash scene. this is where the driver was taken into custody. he was actually injured himself, a 23-year-old man. he crashed into some planters here at st. mary's medical center and he was arrested and taken to the hospital. he will obviously be facing some very serious charges. now, back out here live at masonic, golden gate and turk, this is where the investigation will continue for hours. masonic has had several problems with pedestrians. it's a 25-mile-per-hour zone but there are some incidents where people have been hit even crossing in crosswalks. back to you.
