some of you got more than others and one of those is anne arundel county where they activated emergency operation center. good morning. >> good morning. we have 186 snow removal vehicles working in the road districts. roads seem to be doing okay. we had about 22 accidents since 6:00 p.m. last night using close to 1800 tons of deicing salt. our county government is open. that was my decision this morning. >> what determine what is is an emergency operation for you guys? some places are saying hey, we are okay on the roads. >> yeah, well, again certain levels of emergencies. we are here just to make sure things are running as they are supposed to. >> how much is this costing us? we ran budgets out in baltimore county, hartford county isstruggling. how is the budget handling this? >> you hit the nail on the head. the last snow storm, the blizzard cost us $2.2 million. we have moneys in our budget to handle these emergencies, but obviously when we are facing a looming $95 million budget deficit for fiscal year 2011, we need every dollar we can get but obviously public safety and making sure

blizzard warning goes into effect with anne arundel county, calvert, st. mary's. we don't get storms like this very often, thankfully. the initial snowfall totals, it will continue to come in and get larger. winchester 4 inches, to which is gaithersburg and centreville, bryant's town, charles county 1 inch. just a trace at bwi-thurgood marshall. the snow will increase in frequency, intensity as the winds slowly increases and the temperatures fall. all the ingredients for a big storm that could pump 20, 30 inches. we will monitor the possibility of the mixture down south, but we're not seeing signs quite yet. 25-30 inches is possible. with a storm this big, we can get up to 33 inches of snow. these are the important warnings. what a storm warning for the entire area. blizzard warning at -- winter storm warning for the entire area, blizzard warning for calvert county, anne arundel county, st. mary's, visibility below 0.1 inches -- 0.1 miles at times. >> you want to stay ahead of the snow with the shoveling. >> if you clear them out every couple hours, that will save

george county and charles county are included in the blizzard warning that previously included anne arundel, calvert and st. mary's. that begins at 10:00 when the wind should pick up until 10:00 tom neat. our friend at the beaches, ocean city, rehoboth, bethany you have a blizzard warning. not because of more snow than the rest of us bus the -- but the winds will be stronger. visibility will be life- threatening. white outs, a big gust of wind can blow the snow. this is a huge storm and most likely historic. one of the record books. it looks like it will be close to topping what we had in december and challenging the blizzard of 1996 which was 17 inches in the district and 25 to 28 in the suburbs. what happens from this point forward, snow rates will increase. we are projecting one to two inches per hour tonight and through the overnight. wind -- while we are not in a blizzard warning in the northern suburbs, there will be wind and reduced visibility. we are describing the conditions overnight as dangerous as is the national weather service. the heaviest accumulations between now and dawn.
