frank mallicoat. >>> 200 passengers on an international flight thought they were going to die after their plane from sfo who hong kong hit severe turbulence. annes covering the story from sfo. and several people were hurt during the flight. >> reporter: yeah. we are hearing more from the passengers this morning. it was a boeing 747. they say it felt like a roller coaster. they described two minutes of terror. >>> reporter: one people were injured in the flight. people went to the hospital in hong kong once the plane finally landed. it was a packed cathay pacific flight headed from sfo to hong kong. the turbulence hit over japan about 8 hours into the flight. these are some of the pictures we found on twitter. passengers said it felt like the plane was spiraling down into freefall describing people being thrown out of their seats and suitcases flying out of overhead bins. here's how one man describes it. >> extremely scary because it was throwing you up and downsideways. quite a few people were thrown up from the seats and a few hit the ceiling of the aircraft. we had a couple of the baggage bins opening up and the bags flying out. >> reporter:

frank and michelle, back to you guys. >>> developing news this morning about a health threat for millions in the bay area. the measles might be making a comeback. kpix 5's anne makovec is at the el cerrito bart station where one bart rider may have infected millions with the highly contagious disease. anne. >> reporter: that rider went between this station which is the del norte station to downtown berkeley. but the exposure may go way beyond that area because the virus can travel through the air and live for up to two hours so people who ride bart different lines different times may also have been affected. during the morning and evening commute is when this 20- something year old student rode bart last weak tuesday through friday. then he went to class at uc- berkeley. the student was not vaccinated and was likely infected with measles during a recent trip to asia. >> if this individual had been vaccinated and was exposed to measles abroad would not have been infected and would not have brought the disease to the united states and all this would not have been happening. >> if you or a loved one might have been exposed and have not been vaccinated, here are

frank mallicoat. >> i'm michelle griego. time now 6:31. >>> developing right now, one person may have been exposed -- may have exposed millions to the measles after riding bart. kpix 5 reporter anne is covering this story at the el cerrito bart state and anne, bart passengers aren't the only people who may have been infected. >> reporter: that's right. and not just the bart passengers that rode on the same route that this 20-year- old student did, as well. it looks like the contagion factor could be very widespread. it was a 20-something cal student who got the virus on a trip to asia and rode bart while contagious. that appears to be the source of a potential measles outbreak. >> we know residents and people in the area may have been exposed to measles. >> reporter: the student took bart from the el cerrito del norte station to downtown berkeley between february 4 through 7 during the morning and evening commutes with an average ridership of 400,000 a day, that's 1.2 million people who may have been exposed to the measles. in years past, this wouldn't have been a big deal. everyone was immunized no questions asked. but this is berkeley in 2014 and many parents opt out of the mmr

frank, michelle, back to you guys. >> thank you. >>> some developing news in monterey county. several small town cops are under arrest this morning accused in an elaborate car theft ring. kpix 5's anne makovec is in the newsroom and anne, there have been plenty of complaints about shady police officers from people in the community. >> reporter: that's what the d.a. says. that is exactly what they are doing. the d.a. says the charged poor hispanic people in king city pulling them over and in many cases the people didn't have licenses so the vehicles were impounded and sent to a tow yard. when the vehicle's owners couldn't pay the fees, the cars were sold or given away to other officers. the owner of that tow yard is the brother of the acting police chief bruce miller. miller along with the ex-police chief charged with bribery, accepting a bribe or embezzlement. miller says he is not guilty. >> i was aware of an investigation. we reached out to the fbi and d.a.'s office to do it. but i didn't think i would become a suspect. so yeah, a little blown away. >> reporter: these two officers were also arrested in connection with a scheme and two other officers were arrested on unrelated char
