cbs 5 reporter anne makovec is at san francisco's fisherman's wharf where the crab boats are idle. good morning, anne. >> reporter: these things have a way of working themselves out. it is an issue of economics, the law of supply and demand. but boy, i was back here in mid- november, when the season started. this place was alive with enthusiasm and now this strike has all boats docked. no crab are being caught in the san francisco bay as we speak. before the season started, fishermen and wholesalers had agreed to a price of $3 a pound for fresh dungeness crab, a little higher than normal. last year it was $2.25. fishermen said they needed more money because there were fewer crabs in the bay and the higher price of fuel. fish brokers say demand is down so they only want to pay $1.80. now that both are idle supply is down and caught in the middle of all this people who like to eat dungeness crab. some retailers say their tanks are empty. it's the law of economics so i think it will balance out. i don't know how long that will take. it's san francisco bay that is participating in the s
