kpix 5 reporter anne makovec is with firefighters on the scene of the vegetation fire in corte madera this morning. anne. >> reporter: the size of this fire has doubled overnight as far as the size estimate now that they have a better look at how much has burned, 5.5 acres here in the area behind me. you can see firefighters still on scene. take a look and the these flames shot overnight. this fire broke out around 11:00. this is an area just east of the village shopping mall in an area of marshland. it's actually the area of several homeless encampments which brought extra hazards because because there were several propane tanks in the areas and at least one of them exploded. i'm here with corte madera fire chief roger sprain. tell us about the role these propane tanks played. obviously that's really dangerous. >> it can be a hazard to firefighters. it's mostly the small tanks that you use for barbecue and once those get a certain temperature, they vent and can also explode. so it's like a grenade going on. >> reporter: no firefighter injuries, though? >> no injuries to any of the ho

kpix 5's anne makovec is in san francisco where a fire at the chinese consulate is being investigated as arson. anne. >> reporter: and you can see the front entrance, the damage after last night's fire here at the chinese consulate building on laguna street. the u.s. state department is now involved in this investigation categorized as arson. here's one of several pictures being circulated on social media this morning of the front door burning. the chinese consulate as office says someone in a minivan pulled up, poured two buckets of gasoline on the door and set it on fire around 9:30 last night. the fire department headed out in about 10 minutes and you can see the damage here. the consulate spokesman called the arson a violent crime targeted at the chinese consulate. he calls it a sabotage of a vile nature and a, quote, despicable attack. now, you can see the door here, the damage to the front door. that has been removed. all parts of the investigation. there is also a security camera out here, also sure to be part of it. in the meantime, the chinese consulate is urging the u.s. gov
