>> anne thompson here with us with the president's speech and the outflow from it. anne, thanks. >>> turning now to our weather, that severe storm system that swept through parts of the midwest last night led to some serious flooding today. parts of iowa were hit hard after getting as much as 7 inches of rain in some spots, hundreds of people were evacuated. evansville, indiana got over 4 inches. police got a dozen phone calls about people who had to be rescued from flooded roads. >>> strange occurrence here on the east coast. we now know that on june 13th, 30 different tide measuring gauges from north carolina all the way north to massachusetts showed what appears to match the definition of a tsunami. a sudden outflow of water and then an incoming rogue wave. it wasn't large, just 1 to 6 feet above normal. but enough to pull boats from their cleats and damage some docks. and surprise some divers and surfers who found they were being carried along. theories about the cause of this vary, from an offshore storm system to a sudden shift in the continental shelf. >>> aft
