i'm anne-marie green. a republican kentucky lawmaker accused of sexually assaulting a teenager four years ago has apparently killed himself. dan johnson died last night from a single gunshot wound on a bridge in northern kentucky. monday there was an article published that johnson allegedly assaulted a girl in the basement of his home. tuesday in a church where he was a pastor he called the allegation totally false. he admitted he was gruff with the teen on the night of the alleged incident, but denied that he sexually assaulted her. >> before these accusations came up, i don't want to get into any details, but it was nothing to do with me or anything sexual. >> johnson said the allegations were politically people to care for his life. he said ptsd will take my life. i cannot handle it any longer. an autopsy will be performed today. president trump invited doug jones, the democrat who beat roy moore to the white house. moore continues to insist the race is not over. brook silva-braga is here this morning.

i'm brook silva-braga in for anne-marie green. >>> at least 12 people were killed including a child when a fast-moving fire moved through an apartment in new york. it's the deadliest in at least 25 years. the fire broke out last night and witnesses say the fire engulfed the building within 45 minutes. john schiumo is there, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. it's described as historic in its magnitude. 12 dead, four critically injured. the cause remains unknown. flames ripped through an apartment building in the bronx last night. it quickly became one of the most devastating fires in recent new york city history. >> this is the worst fire tragedy we have seen in this city in at least a quarter century. >> reporter: fire officials say it started quickly on the first floor and quickly spread. windows on some of the top floors were smash and blackened. firefighters responded within minutes. witnesses say even before help arrived people inside were scrambling to climb down. >> people on the fire escape were already trying to get down on their own. >> reporter: complicating a res
