annette: yes. i'm talking in the book about the fact that my parents were i believe idealistic when they sent me to anderson school. this was the mid 60s and a black people were sort of on the move in the way, and the voting rights act in a bank they thought about sending me into an integrated school as part of an advance off civil rights reading note later on, when it became disillusioned to some degree about the way that integration had played itself out across south in general becauseut my parents were very political people who talk about politics a lot and they were surveying the scene not just in our town that all of the south. and he became his religion because there is integration with the seem to be black in a chain but whites really didn't have to change. so the non- integration of the teachers in the process out in my town, many black teachers were taking out of the classroom. after integration and my mother remained in the classroom and she loved teaching. she stayed there but i think there's a bit of disappointment about that because she said she had gone to college and grad school to teach grad
