annie mccormick is live in bristol with more on the traffic problems this is causing. annie. >> reporter: sarah there were a lot of detours because the bridge is out of service indefinitely. however there were not major delays they were expecting because commuters were prepared. it will take two weeks to figure out the copy of the problem and how long it will take to fix it. this is the crack that is halting traffic over the delaware river bridge in definitely. friday an engineer making the inspection caught the fractured steel truss throughout the weekend, crews stableddized -- stabilized the steel beam. it's a cleaning break and might have happened in recent days or week. the 1.2-mile bridge carries 42,000 vehicles eastbound and westbound. the bridge is jointly owned by the turnpike commission and the turnpike authority. >> we use it all the time. it's a burden. >> reporter: this morning drivers who count on the bridge braced for back ups. the roads under the bridge have dweh tours, too. >> the drive home i'm not looking forward to, but we'll see. >> i'm going to wor

good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tamala. luckily those four little girls that were inside the home at the time that this all went down are okay. but the intruder is dead. a second intruder fled from the scene and police are still looking for him and that homeowner is at hahnemann know serious condition. well, take a look at this video. this is video from the scene. this all happened around 11:15 in the 1900 block of pratt. 27-year-old male homeowner just returned home with his wife and their four young daughters only ages four years down to five months old. well, its couple heard a knock at the door. two armed men forced their way inside. one of the armed intruders shot the homeowner twice, once in the mouth and the leg. the homeowner had a weapon and fired back shooting one intruder in the head. >> this was a home invasion robbery where the perpetrators were met by the 27-year-old homeowner who had a gun on his own. so, one of the perpetrators, at least one of the perpetrators fired a shot striking the homeowner. the homeow

"action news" reporter annie mccormick is live in erdrick street in holmesburg where the discovery was made. annie. >> reporter: matt a short time ago homicides detectives and also the crime scene unit did leave here after finishing up in the 8,000 block of erdrick street. it was here at a first floor apartment lined me where the discovery was made. take a look at this video from a short time ago of a vehicle being towed from the scene here. crime seen investigators left about an hour ago. this is other video of the scene from earlier. police did respond to an apartment on the first floor around 10 o'clock last night. the 37-year-old victim's girlfriend made the discovery. she told police she left the apartment that she shares with the victim and returned to find her boyfriend face down in the bedroom next to his bed suffering from a gunshot wound. police say that he was shot in the head. he was pronounced dead at the scene. well, damage to the apartment prompted investigators to call this a homicide. >> in addition to the victim's body, there was another bedroom in the apartment that
