annie mccormick is live at the ramada inn in vineland with the dramatic story. annie. >> reporter: matt be i'm speaking to a guest who was able to evacuate telling me he woke up to police banging on his door and the phone in his room ringing, the front desk calling and telling him to get out. he and his 66-year-old mother grabbed their stuff and got of the hotel safely. a police officer suffered smoke inhalation is expected to be okay. the guest in the room where the fire officials believe the fire originated, that guest suffered burns and smoke inhalation, as well, but walked on his own to the ambulance and heading to croaz chester -- crozer-chester medical center. this is what firefighters arrived to at 2:00 a.m. when the fire broke out. there was heavy smoke and flames from the building from specifically the roof area. they believe the fire began in the second floor unit and traveled above in the attic space in the hallway. the fire chief updated us a short time ago and told us about some of the rescues they made when they arrived. >> there was heavy fire and

"action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at northwest detectives where, annie, the details justn't add up. >> reporter: and matt, that's right, they say that the man made the entire story up. they think possibly mental health issues could be into play but that's all something they're going to investigate. however that man could face charges now. this is video from the scene. the police say the initial reports of the incident came in around 10:15 last night along the 4600 block of sydenham street in logan. a pizza delivery man said he was carjacked by two armed men. 20 minutes later police found the car at north 16th and saint paul street in tioga-nicetown. officers from the 35th and 39th set up a grid search looking for a child the delivery man claimed was in the car. police put up their chopper and officers searched with k-9s but the man's story kept changing and investigators knew something right in the end there is no child missing and in fact they do not believe any crime happened at all. police say they're still investigating because the man could face charges possibly a ch

's going on here, annie? >> reporter: tamala, that's right, the man-made the entire story up. at this point police still don't know why. they're investigating that. they think mental health issues could be into play but again they're still looking into that but this man could be charged with making a false police report. this is video from earlier. now, the initial reports came into police around 10:15 last night around the 4600 block of sydenham street in logan. a pizza deliver man said he was carjacked by two armed men p-9 later police found the car in tioga-nicetown. police put up their chopper, there were k-9 officers but the man's story kept changing. things were not adding up and investigators knew that something was just not right. now, back out here live again police say that they now believe the man-made the entire thing up. there is no child. they don't even believe that he was carjacked. again, they say that they're still doing an investigation into exactly why maybe he did

annie mccormick has the story. >> reporter: it ended right here, right in front of state police, it was philadelphia police that was making the pursuit. police are holding this car, waiting for a search warrant and tow truck. it ended in front of the state police barracks. this is video of one of four people taken into custody from the car following a chase from west philadelphia that went on to lancaster avenue and the schuylkill expressway. philadelphia police caught them in front of the belmont barracks that's when the car came to a stop. a call of shots fired drew the attention of police to the 800 block of alden. it is there that police say they saw a man getting out of the same vehicle that was later in the chase, they saw him get out of the vehicle allegedly with a gun, they took him into custody. while they were doing that, thit is when four people took off and the pursuit happened. police say the four occupants if the vehicle were taken into custody and this was again sparked by what happened in west philadelphia about hearing shots fired and seeing a man with a gun get out of

annie mccormick is live on the 2400 block of 77th street. >> reporter: good morning, tam, police are trying to figure out what happened out here, they have a lot of pieces they are trying to put together. they know for sure this is a double shooting that sent two shooting victims to the hospital. there was a third man discovered near the home. police are treating him as a suspect. police don't know if this was a home invasion or what sparked the shooting. this happened before 2:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the residence in the 2400 block of 77th avenue. when they got there they found two shooting victims on the second floor, 20-year-old man shot in the leg and 25-year-old shot in the leg, both were sent to einstein hospital. the victims said they were shot while sleeping. however, when police were looking through the home they did discover five shell casings, they didn't find any in the bedroom where they said they were. police found a third man injured and bleeding not far from the home. he initially was not cooperating with police and police are treating h

annie mccormick is following the impact on commuters and is live at the 69th street terminal in upper darby, annie. >> reporter: sarah septa said the number of riders that septa had monday were lower because of people taking off the day after super bowl. 86 rail cars in total have been taken out of service. septa said this morning 40 were taken out of service. it's not clear if there's a discrepancy in the numbers, but we're waiting for an update from septa. dozens of rail cars on the market frankford line are out of service after a weekend inspection uncovered cracks in two dozen cars in the body bolster or support beams. septa made the decision to remove other cars that appear to have similar issues. the transit system is used to having 144 cars during peak travel times. septa ordered shut buses. >> we rode down to 52nd street to hop on the bus and ride to 15th street and get back on the el. >> reporter: that was lisa's original plan, she was surprised to get on the train at 52nd street. at 69th street during the heart of morning rush hour, riders had this to say. >> everything is s
