anny hong joins us live with the story and it's looking not so good out there. >> reporter: yeah. actually the residents are saying it does look better compared to a couple days ago when there were just trees and branches everywhere. now the real work will be around these buildings and you can see the roof is torn off when that micro burst came through friday and now the crews are working on securing these buildings that have been deemed condemned. it will take months to repair. prince george's county officials want residents to contact them with any sort of structural damage to see if the area could qualify for federal assistance. one of the hardest hit areas from friday's fast moving severe thunderstorms in bladensburg is this residential neighborhood on newton street between 52nd and 57th avenues. several apartment buildings were damaged, some roofs ripped off forcing officials to condemn those buildings. >> maybe 70% better here than it is friday. >> reporter: the clean-up continued three days after the microburst which is a concentrated intense down draft capable of producing

. >> reporter: i'm anny hong in bladensburg, maryland, where residents say the area looks a lot better, but the clean-up continues and so does the damage assessment. one of the hardest hit areas from friday's fast moving severe thunderstorms in bladensburg is this residential neighborhood on newton street between 52nd and 57th avenues. several apartment buildings were damaged, some roofs ripped off forcing officials to condemn those buildings. the clean-up continues three days after the microburst which is a concentrated intense downdraft capable of producing 60 to 80 mile-per-hour wind gusts. residents were allowed to get some belongings while more than since hundred were still displaced. huckier -- 600 were still displaced. luckier ones were able to return home. what does it feel like to be back to your home? >> very good. they're still working on the water now. >> reporter: prince george's county emergency managers are assessing the destruction to see if there's enough structural damage to qualify for federal assistance. >> now we're talking about debby, not little sticking around.

we start with anny hong in the weather center. >> yes, quite a bit of damage related to the winds thatsaw that caused straight line winds or micro bursts. and it was pretty impressive some of the reports we got. let's take a look right now at live doppler 9 hd where it's much quieter now. just a couple lingering showers south of us into fredericksburg and culpeper. also out towards the beaches. that's where they're still getting hammered. but you can still see right around unionville and orange and culpeper still has a pretty good cell going on right now. doppler radar showing us quite a few lightning strikes, cloud to ground lightning, with the storms that came through with the cold front. we're seeing la plata and waldorf with moderate to light rainfall. check out some of the storm reports we got. we had thunderstorm wind gusts at the national arboratum in dc. another one in the city of springfield. 58-mile an hour wind gusts. also hail at chevy chase and bethesda in montgomery county. dime sized hail along fairmont avenue. so one is micro bursts is when cold air rushes to the ground

meteorologist anny hong is in for top tonight. lots of rain on tap? >> we're seeing quite a bit of rain come this time tomorrow. we've actually declared tomorrow a yellow weather alert day because of the showers and storms we're expecting. here's a look at our weather computer to show you some of the spotty showers generally west of town. it's kind of hit or miss, very light in nature. so around winchester, in between gaithersburg and fairfax where you see green, that's where we're seeing isolated showers. right now temperatures 84 downtown, 77 in leesburg, 79 in fredericksburg, dew points in the lower 60s, 70s up in orange. what that means is it is humid out here and the 60s could be anywhere from uncomfortable to sticky and orange in 70 is where the humidity is oppressive. for tonight what can you expect? cloudy conditions, mild, muggy, isolated shower, maybe a thunderstorm generally west of town, lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s in downtown. >>> when come back, i'll break down the rain for you, also talk about why we're concerned about some flash

. >>> anny hong has the latest models in the weather center. hi anny. >> bruce, yeah the tropical storm debby is just slow moving almost stationary which is why they're getting so much rain in parts of florida and into alabama and along the gulf coast. here's tropical storm debby now. the winds are sustained at 60 american gusting up to 70 and i mean right now it is stationary. a couple of hours ago it's slowly moving northeast at around 3 miles an hour. check out the forecast models and you can see they don't know really where debby is going to go. a couple maybe saying it will go to the northeast impacting the northwest coast of florida. and also the west coast of also the panhandle. some strengthening is possible over the next 48 hours. maybe a minimal hurricane. but as still -- our model is having a hard time really figuring out what tropical storm debby might do. we're still watching it apparently because of the slow movement from 10 to 20 inches of rain possible in some spots. we'll talk about the chance for showers and storms in our area

anny hong will be here in a few minutes to let us know if tomorrow is going to be just as hot. >>> a group of late-night skinny dippers in the fountain at the university of maryland stolen clothes and purses, and then a sexual assault. surae chinn reports campus police are searching for a group of eight men and two women who robbed the skinny dippers around midnight and sexually assaulted one of them. >> reporter: the fountain is at the heart of the campus and some students i talked with say it's a tradition to take a dip in the fountain before you graduate, clothes or no clothes. but the next time you're looking for what police say is innocent fun in the fountain late at night, you might have to watch your back. >> in a lot deal like this, it's very tempting to dip your feet into this. >> reporter: police say that temptation of a midnight skinny dip ended in a crime with a girl's clothes and money stolen, one of them sexually assaulted. >> it shouldn't happen. it really shouldn't. >> reporter: ten people, most of them men, stole the girls' belongings. one grabbed a 19-year-old girl'
