although when they grow up, they'll still be the smallest penguins in antarctica, standing at a littleet tall. despite their size, adelies are impressive. for starters, they're amazing swimmers. when out fishing, they've been known to travel upwards of 185 miles round trip to feed their chicks. their diving skills are also right up there. or down there. amazingly, adelies can dive nearly 600 feet down for a meal of fish and krill. that chick's giving its wings a good stretch, but it'll have to wait until it molts before it can go flying underwater. not many creatures get an ocean view complete with icebergs, but that's all part of a normal day for king penguins. the chicks are enormous. not surprising though, since king penguins are the second largest of all the penguin species. eventually, these big downy babies will grow to weigh about 30 pounds and stand nearly three feet tall. everything is big about these birds. look how many chicks are clustered together in this creche. that's just the beginning. the colonies can be made up of hundreds of thousands of birds. king chicks are quite
