so what, if anything, has the ferguson police department told michael brown's family about the investigation? let's bring in anthonyray, one of the attorneys for the brown family. mr. gray, has the identity of this officer been revealed to the family, as far as you know? >> it has not been revealed. no, sir. >> we know michael's family and the community want transparency in this investigation. what do you say to those who say look, there's been violence in ferguson in the last few days and therefore, police have an understandable fear they might be putting the officer's life in danger by releasing his name. what's your take on that argument? >> well, i understand the argument itself. the argument has to be weighed against the public interests in disclosing the name. and once a fair and independent group of individuals conduct this balancing test, we feel that the scales should tilt in favor of disclosure. that's just our position with regard to that. >> several of michael's friends were at the scene of the shooting. they say he was surrendering. they say his arms were up when he was shot. do you happen to know if t

anthony gray, he's attorney for the family of mike brown, thank you, sir. joining me now is the democratic mayor of st. louis, francis slay. mayor slay, i have to say, the images that are coming out of ferguson, missouri, are coming out of ferguson, but there are a lot of folks who are thinking, this is st. louis. i'm seeing tear gas in st. louis, police violence in st. louis, unrest in st. louis. as the mayor of st. louis, what are you thinking as you watch all this go down? >> well, this is a very highly charged situation. and while this is not the city of st. louis, it is the suburbs of st. louis and it has a huge impact on the entire region, and that's something i'm very, very cognizant of. >> what are you hoping to see happen here? it strikes me that in the time i've been here reporting, there is a little bit of a municipal game of thrones going on. some really indeterminantsy of what's in charge of what. are you confident that the lines of authority are clear? the investigation being pursued in a maximally professional manner? >> i am confident of tha

joining us now, an attorney for the brown family. anthony gray with us now.you for having me. >> definitely. today follow as big day yesterday with attorney general eric holder came to foergson, met with the brown family. how important was that for them to have that meeting and sit face a to face and talk to the foreign general? >> well, i think leslie said it better than i could. it seemed to have had a very soothing effect on her. it came across to her as being genuine and reassuring. and at this hour, while she's trying to bury her child, i think it came at a very appropriate time. >> there is a federal criminal civil rights investigation that is under way right now. are you expecting that there will be charges coming from that investigation when it comes to officer wilson? >> well, you know, i fully expect for there to be charges based on what the witnesses have consistently said across the board. i don't know how any investigation can discount all of the consistent key eyewitness testimony that has been given regarding the incidents of that saturday afte

i wanted to ask you, anthony who live on the same street where michael brown, the murdered man, lived, when people walk by police, they raise their hands, hands up, don't shoot. there seems to be a hatred between the people protesting and the police. they look at them. there is hatred there. >> they hate because the police are being in the st. louis area so aggressive to some of the african americans in st. louis. >> are you going to try -- who is causing the violence here we've been seeing? we've been seeing things thrown at police how are you going to try to stop that? >> the same way we tried to last night. you know? pushing people back. you know? for people won't get hurt. you know? and we are not those that are throwing bottles and pointing them out to the police, letting police now. we're trying to have a peaceful protest out here. so if you're throwing something at the police we don't mind the police taking you. we want our protest peaceful. so the world can hear our voice. >> can you spin around, dutch? looks like those police under action right there, making more arrests. so
