anthony johnson is at the seen -- anthony johnson is at the scene. >> reporter: we are standing on the corner here in staten island. let's show you that the abandoned building. it is a seven-story building. we understand this was the person got in the building -- we do see gates up around the building. how that person got into the building we do not know. apparently, that person, a 16- year old fell seven floors, suffering head trauma. his condition is critical. again, this is an abandoned building. police have not said if he was in there with anyone else but, obviously, someone did call 911. this report came in around 5:00 this afternoon. i did hear that the building has been unoccupied for quite a long time. you can see some of the emergency vehicle starting to lean the scene. once again a 16-year old male falling seven floors in a building that was unoccupied at the time. we are still trying to figure out how that person got into the building. the latest condition report is that he is in critical condition. that is the latest from staten island. >>> we will have the latest tonight.

new jersey reporter anthony johnson in rutherford right now with more on the story, anthony? >> reporter: well, dave, the way it turned out the highway was a construction zone all night last night. fortunately, it did reopen before the morning commute began. but here's the latest on this story. the dramatic dashcam video is being used by state police investigators to determine the exact cause of that tragic fatal accident on the turnpike yesterday afternoon. the fuel truck violently swerving to avoid what appears to be a mattress along with other motorists on the roadway before it jackknifed and tumbled over the guardrail before bursting into a wall of scorching hot flames. the truck driver who had his dashcam tried to rescue the driver but the heat at the scene was just too intense. the fuel fed flames were roaring for nearly two hours and a day after this tragedy on the turnpike, authorities are still trying to get a positive id on the driver. and autopsy is taking place right now and this morning, state police saying that the medical examiner may use dna to make the offici

new jersey reporter anthony johnson is there. when police got a 911 call around 10:40 last night all they heard was screams in the background. they rushed to do seen. when they arrived the alleged suspect in the crime met them at the front door, his hands covered in blood. the suspect p keith knight has been charged with two counts of murder and weapons possession according to the bergen county prosecutor. what he is accused of doing is horrendous but many who knew the knight family say keith had serious mental issues from the time he had a serious motorcycle accident over a decade ago. neighbors say the accused killer was never the same after that accident. the house on this quiet residential block turned into a crime scene overnight as knight allegedly attacked his 84-year- old mother, victoria knight and his younger brother, ronald victor knight. letter both suffered multiple stab wounds. the grandson of victoria knight spoke to us by phone earlier today and said it's hard to determine a possible motive for this double murder.

new jersey reporter anthony johnson is live in east rutherford with the latest. >> here's the latest. an autopsy took place on the truck driver today. so far that truck driver that died in yesterday's accident has not been identified but we do know he is from newark, new jersey. >> reporter: authorities have now said the truck that burst in to flames was carrying 8500 gallons of fuel. after leaving a linden refinery. the blazing inferno on the turnpike was so destructive, it was challenging for investigators to determine which company owns the fuel truck which burst in to flames. but this afternoon it was announced that the truck company was jsk transport of warren, new jersey. this dash cam video shows the horrible chain of events leading to the crash and the stunning aftermath but it could have been far worse. the fuel truck driver apparently took quick action to avoid motorists and a mattress and box spring on the roadway. the trucker swerving off the northbound turnpike, hitting a guard rail, which split the shell of the fuel container like a straight razor. the truck flipping on

anthony johnson has been on the scene, live there with the latest. anthony, what do you have for us? >> the new jersey state police now investigating the possibility of a mattress and a box spring being on the roadway, being on the north brown new jersey turnpike and having something to do with the serious accident taking place on the northbound turnpike about 3:15 this afternoon. we just want to show you some shots from newscopter7 a little bit earlier today. that's when the flames were really raging from that tanker truck and it burned for nearly an hour and a half. i'm talking about raging inferno right along the highway. the northbound western spur of the turnpike was shut down completely while firefighters were trying to deal with putting out that fire. the flames were black smoke billowing in to the air. as a matter of fact we can still see that smoke in the air. now we're going to show you shots from ground shots. we actually drove by the scene, the you can still see all of the thick smoke but you can see the flames shooting out and as we got c

anthony johnson spoke to her family and joins us with new details. anthony. >> reporter: that's right. she arrived home around 2:00 this afternoon walking up the street. she really did keep to herself, a sweet innocent little girl attacked by a dog this morning while standing out on the street right next to her father. this is certainly a traumatic experience for her and for her entire family. >> this brave little 5-year-old cuddling next to her family is recovering from a very vicious dog attack. despina was heading to kindergarten this morning when she was mauled by a neighbor's pit bull. >> just coming through my house, not even 5 seconds i see the dog coming from the next houseflying to us. trying to get my daughter. his daughter's head has a huge gash which needed stitches. he was bitten as he tried to protect his daughter by covering her head. he feels the dog's owner was reckless. >> why he left the door open. the door was open. >> but the owner of the dog did he told us he was sorry for the attack. apparently the dog's real just passed away th
