and then we get to apache. now when i got into this racket back in the early '80s, there was a canadian stock, a genuine rocketship. it's one of the greatest runs i've ever seen but it ended badly in an avalanche of debt. now along comes apache with a promotional announcement saying it's found one of the biggest spots of oil, alpine, they call it where it secured 300,000 acres of land which might have as much as 3 billion barrels, it is a gigantic find and has been kept very much under wraps. we were told it was one of the biggest finds of oil that could be announced sometime soon. i think's this one. apache has rallied, understandable that the company was only worth $20 billion before the news broke. and it's up 14%. here's the rub. like dome petroleum, we can't prove what apache has. we can't just say certified by core labs. the seal of approval. this is an area that oil geologists told us for many years wasn't worth fracking about. it will be a while before we know whether this find will be this big. neverth

we have seen a little bit of clutter by apache junction, which means it's probably just something coming off the radar. it might be a little moisture in the air in that area, and you can see that stuff is there's safford in right there, east fork, and as we get up in show low, you'll see right up in this area here, with that moisture kind of pushing through, we run up flagstaff and then look north of there, and as we back off, and you can get a look at it here from a distance, you see everything off to the east and everything moving on. it's still pretty windy out there. look at that, 26-mile-an-hour gusts in winslow, 12-mile-an-hour gusts in payson, flagstaff. and here's your high on the day, 98 degrees surrounded by some low 90s, some mid-90s, and some upper 90s as well. we had 68 degrees in flagstaff, 77 degrees in prescott, 79 in payson, and 100 degrees at gila bend. 98 for our high today, 78 for the low. 101 and 78 would be the normal high and low. there's your record high at 109, your record low 55. forecasting for tomorrow once again, mid to low 90s throughout the entire valley he

. >> it's happening in the southwest valley near fort apache and russell. our gerard ramalho is justing to the scene. -- just getting to the scene. what do you know about the >> reporter: there is another late-breaking development. police as of a few minutes ago has closed russell heading south. the intersection of russell and fort apache is as far as you can go. we have an active scene. this developing as we speak. we've seen s.w.a.t. teams arrive moments ago. i'm gonna show you the actual scene in question. you see a lot of cars that are parked up here along the side of the road. and/or s.w.a.t. cars or police cars. there are dozens of over -- of officers at the scene. we're witnessing the second of two incidents that are connected. according to police, this began as an armed robbery at a screens store. -- at a convenience store. one suspect barricaded himself in the apartment complex. there was a standoff.

a little bit of haze across the city, 90 degrees a across scottsdale, 88 up in cave creek, 87 in apache junction. i mentioned that we still have some it's really not coming into the city. it's avoiding the city. but, watch, yeah, this moisture here, it evaporates fairly rapidly. but this is the storm system that was rolling in here at about 5:00, and as you get look at some of these numbers here, you can -- look at that, one. -- 1.7, just about everything is a half an inch or better. we have a few areas that are a little bit less than that. pretty good moisture coming down in a short amount of time, and buckeye area. saw some storms over here in guadalupe with a half an inch coming down there, right near apache junction, about an inch and a half. so a lot of that moisture moving on out of the place now. you can see flagstaff up here. lots of moisture running through there, still a little bit left over. we have a little bit on the west side here, some pretty good storms coming out of the peach springs area, and then we get over here show low, where you see some active weather continuing

officers surrounded an apartment complex near russell and fort apache in search of multiple suspects. brittany edney joins us live on the scene with more. brittany? ((brittany edney)) >> a barricade situation here hour ago. and luckily, no one was injured. investigators tell us this all started when they responded to a call about a strong-armed robbery at a store on the 5300 block of south fort apache. that call led police to an apartment complex along russell where metro says a suspect holed inside the apartment then led police on a short foot pursuit before being taken into custody. swat and negotiators were then called in to assist with a se for hours-- the suspect refused to come out... ultimately, metro says he forced swat to go in and they were able to arrest him without anyone getting injured. with parts of west russell blocked off-- dozens of residents had to wait along the streets for the situation to play out. it's a situation shocking some of the parents nearby.
