apec was a great event. it put us on the world stage and did help recovery and reputation for san francisco. i don't want to deemphasize that. that is very important. covid was tough and san francisco has a bad wrapped undeserved in my opinion sitting on it ground, but it helped so the city was clean and energyed and safe. the residents in the community and businesses benefited from beautification and safety measures but it required patience resulting from limited access, transit change, protest. we want to be fair to that. our businesses in the community we have diverse ecosystem of businesses. it was feast or famine. some did well and some did not. a ying and yang occurred during this event. our help as the cbd and i think feel we are trying to stay neutral. there is positive and negative with every situation and there are very positive impacts and solutions that are beginning to be formed. we want to find a way to have the solutions last well beyond apec and that's what we are headed for. i'll leave with

i was in the tenderloin today, and it looked like it was pre-apec. what's the response from city leaders? >> reporter: we get a mixed response, right? i talked with the supervisor in that district, supervisor dean preston. he says he doesn't agree with some of the strategies that the mayor's office is taking in trying to do that. he did not agree with the idea of arresting people for small-time -- what he calls small-time drug offenses. he's also a proponent of the safe injection sites, which is something that the state rejected as a possibility, and so the city of san francisco has also since moved on from that strategy. the mayor's office says that they are trying an array of different resources, that they have been doing before. the street teams are still out there. as you heard from the head of the tenderloin business owners association, they actually see these street teams out there, and they see they're making an outreach to the people in the streets. the frustrating thing is that a lot of times, the people just turn down those resources. since

as you know, we also had apec, apec, apec in november and our team really suited up and shoed up and i'm so appreciative and proud of all the work our members did. assistant deputy chief brown really just did an astonishing job at accordinating everything as did deputy chief tong. it took a village and great work by all. i know mayor breed came by station 49 yesterday to thank the members and station 49 and i know chief brown and chief tong were there yesterday so thank you for being there. we also the week of apec had the 132 graduation. thank you for all you that came to that, and we also had a h3 level 1 graduation on november 22. lots of new folks out in the field, good stuff. we had our monthly labor management meeting. all went well there. and thanksgiving along and did quite a few different events, including saint anthony giving thanks on golden gate. turkey carving versus the police department and yes, we won. not to brag, but strong work everyone. and thanksgiving day, i did-we did glide and self--help for the elderly and salvation army on powell street. it was a really good

so it will be mostly about apec and what's what's next. so um, so succession planning and so my three deputies and mark corso and myself, we just had our second sort of retreat, if you will, for a five hour meeting on sort of off campus. and we talked about succession planning. the first time we really talked about priorities and sort of did a swot analysis. es strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. and this last week we talked about succession planning and what we do in these meetings is we come up with sort of our challenges, what we need to see happen, what the sort of obstacles are to them. and then we come out with a list of action items. so so we're holding a meeting once a month, and this month it was on succession planning. so really good stuff. and i appreciate all of them for their hard work and their input as we know, our budget and structures instruction are coming. i believe next next month. but and having some real conversations with others in city government and the budget conversations. i think are going to be re

apec was a great event. it put us on the world stage and did help recovery and reputation for san francisco. i don't want to deemphasize that. that is very important. covid was tough and san francisco has a bad wrapped undeserved in my opinion sitting on it ground, but it helped so the city was clean and energyed and safe. the residents in the community and businesses benefited from beautification and safety measures but it required patience resulting from limited access, transit change, protest. we want to be fair to that. our businesses in the community we have diverse ecosystem of businesses. it was feast or famine. some did well and some did not. a ying and yang occurred during this event. our help as the cbd and i think feel we are trying to stay neutral. there is positive and negative with every situation and there are very positive impacts and solutions that are beginning to be formed. we want to find a way to have the solutions last well beyond apec and that's what we are headed for. i'll leave with
