where the apprentices are getting the academic training and the on the ground training. it makes a difference for someone who has proven their success and commitment and have a test and a list where you are hiring someone that you don't know their work history as well. so, in each of the last three budget years, we have added apprentices and so we will now have a total of an increase of two more apprentices in this year's budget. >> so it would be 27, which is pretty good and don't forget that it is a basically a 2 to 3 year program and when it is done, then they move on to fill a vacantcy as a gardener and then we are able to backfill the spot. so, we would welcome any additional apprentices that you feel are appreciate to keep, 4, 10, and 9 clean. >> supervisor campos. >> i have a question and i appreciate the program, and i think that is a very important part of this. i just had a question about mcclarin park and supervisor cohen noted the importance of that as a regional park and it involves three different districts. i was looking at the score on page 38, and there

each contractor and subcontractor shall employ apprentices at rates specified in the california code section 17 77.5 from a state adjoined apprenticeship program. the olse relied on the office of economic workforce development to interpret the intent of the scope of work from the workforce development plan as to what work was subject to the prevailing wage requirements. and in the beginning of october , there was a determination that vertical construction of the temporary installations including bleachers, stages, tents, scaffolding, flooring and electrical lighting and av equipment associated with thats was covered by the prevailing wage requirement. the plan also expressly exempted from the payment of prevailing wages all construction buyer for sponsors and individual team facilities. we relied on the prime contractor hartman studios, for a list of some subcontractors who worked on the events and we audited eight first and second tiers subcontractors who performed covered work. other than hartman studios whose signatory was iatse local 16 and is familiar with the city's local preva

i'll just repeat that it's 30% local hire for construction jobs and 50% local hire for new apprentice positions. and then for the end use jobs which was a really tiny number initially, it's in our 40% local hire for entry level permanent jobs for 10 years. that's major, major progress made from initially. i also wanted to say that i think the community coalition that demanded fairer proposals from sutter and cpmc sutter, they clearly were right to hold the board accountable and to keep the pressure on. and i really wanted to thank judy lee and dr. browner and others from cpmc for staying at the table and really coming up with i think a proposal that i'm very proud we can stand behind today. i also wanted to comment similarly to supervisor campos' comments that i think it's really important that there is unfinished business and i'm disappointed that not all the different issues got worked out specifically with the nurses. and i hope that there is a continuation of dialogue so that we can encourage not only a great community benefit package for the city, but also that we treat with resp
