it all began at 5:30 this morning when the driver of a new black gmc arcadia lost control and struck the center divide. a black honda then rear-ended the gmc. >> the driver of the gmc got out of his vehicle for we are not sure why, he crossed the northbound lanes to the right shoulder. at that point he crossed back over the freeway. >> reporter: at this point, they do not know why, but the man jumped the median and then walked another 100 yards down the southbound lanes where he was struck and killed. his body parts were strewn for another 50 yards. the man was hit by several cars but none of them stopped to help. he was carrying a duffel bag with some personal items but there was nothing unusual inside it. but officers did find something in the suv. >> a rifle, small caliber, and also bb guns. and we're taking it into custody as found property. so at this point, it's not linked to anything. its just in the back of this car. >> reporter: it's unclear why the man crossed the freeway several times but for now, they said this is not a criminal investigation. >> anytime somebody gets out
