i recently met with patients at the ben archer health center, a rural health clinic in hatch, new mexico, and heard how important medicaid coverage can be to families in southern new mexico. one of the new mexicans i met there was anna marie, who worked for the las cruces food service for years. her husband pad h. passed away -- her husband passed away in 2008. when she found herself unable to keep working following a minor stroke, she could not afford health coverage on her own. when she reached tout my office last year, she had bronchitis and walking pneumonia. my staff helped her enroll in medicaid and now she's able to get access to the care that she needs. i want to take a moment to explain why the medicaid program is so critical in my home state of new mexico. as a medicaid expansion state, new mexico has seen dramatic gains over the last five years in coverage for the folks that need it the most. stories like anna marie's illustrate just how important medicaid can be for hardworking new mexicans. medicaid currently provides affordable health covering to over -- health coverage to

yesterday we had a hearing on the border adjustment and the ceo of archer daniels here talking about agricultural exports. corn, wheat, soybeans. we have lost 50% of our market share in the last 30 years. and our primary competitors are russia and brazil. both with 15% plus border adjustment. so when china, which has 6% of the world's land, and 20% of the world's population, needs to buy grain, are they going to pay 15% more for american grain because of our antiquated tax system? now, i hear you say and, you know, i read about it in the period calls, that you got problems with border adjustment. but as a tax lawyer, i had doubts when i got into it, too. the more i've learned the more i recognize this is a necessary component if we want to rebuild our middle class. so, what i want to know is, where are you on border adjustment? how can we solve your problems and if you don't like it, what else can we do to rebuild our manufacturing base? rebuild our middle class and businesses are competitive and we absolutely share common goals an what we're trying to do to make american business co
