i don't know if there are a whole lot of archival institutions, including the national archives in d.c., where you can sit down and say these are the records i would like to look at and ten minutes later someone brings you a cart of boxes. but the resources at the bush library are shrinking. i was director 18 years and over my time, if you lose an archivist, they go somewhere else, then they are promoted and you ask them to backfill the position and then your supervisor is your deputy director you promote within, then you lose two positions -- the guy that became your assistant director and the person who became your supervisor. so it is a funny issue. i do think we do really good work. across from us is the bush school. the biggest component is the scowcroft institute. they have a lot of records. there is a push to get those records declassified. then professors at smu can use them. prof. naftali: classified presidential and vice presidential documents are getting a lot of attention these days, and so is the issue of over-classification. what doesn't get nearly as much attention and d
