let's bring in ari melber now. ari, what exactly is simple battery in the state of florida and what does corey lewandowski face? >> well, that's a great question. let's start with this probable cause affidavit from the jupiter, florida police, which says simply. probable cause exists to charge corey lewandowski with simple battery. to your question, they are charging under a definition in state law that says battery occurs when a person actually and intentionally touches or strikes another person against their will. you see it there. actually and intentionally striking against their will of another. that does not mean under florida law, krig, thcraig you have to intent to hurt. under florida law, it can be a simple battery if you can prove, prosecutors can prove, that there was that actual touching, or striking, and that the individual in this case, a person that would be called a victim, if proven, basically says yes, that was unconsented, that was not something we agreed to. it was unconsented striking. i want to

ari odzer is live with more on what happened in the courtroom. and this even surprised you, ari. >> reporter: well, jawan, let me tell you, i've never seen anything like this in a courtroom. this was supposed to be a routine first appearance hearing in court for juveniles involved instead it de involved quickly into a stunning display of disrespect. a group of teenagers ignored polite requests, several of them settle down. that led to the spectacle you're going to see here. that's how it started. the disorder in the court was not going to be tolerated by the judge or even apparently the mother of the girl who was screaming. armed deputies subdued the group of uncooperative teenagers and brought them up to the judge who ended up sentencing two of them to five days in the juvenile detention center for contempt of court. the teens were there to support three 15-year-olds who were allegedly involved in yesterday's car chase. police say they stole a car, and led them through broward county before they bailed out and tried to run for it in lauderhill.

now joining me, ari mel bern, paying a lot of attention to the rules.ven get on the ballot, is that right. >> that's right, kate. a lot of people talking about this. but the rules do matter. that one person is donald trump. you can see it here in the states where he has won a majority of the delegates. he is the only one to qualify for the nomination because of this eight-state majority. you see it right here. that comes from the pending rnc rule 40. now look, that is a very important pending rule. you can see it right here. i'm going to just tell it to you plain. you need the support of a majority of the delegates from each of eight or more states to even get on the ballot, kate. what would need to happen for a real contested convention. one with obviously more than one name on the ballot. the gop has to set rules allowing multiple candidates. that happens at the convention. the process starts with 56 members on the standing committee for rules and they offer up rule changes just prior to the convention. then the final say is with a convention committe
