. >> joining me cnn legal analyst, defense attorney and also ariva martin. ariva, you believe president obama weighing in on the controversy is a big moment for survivors of abuse? >> absolutely. when you have someone in his position the president of the united states saying if a woman is drugged and you have sex with that woman that constitutes rape. i think women who have come forward with respect to the allegations against bill cosby will feel vindication. i think those women fearful of coming forward when they have been in similar situations will also be empowered by the words of the president. i think a good moment for survivors as well as advocates. >> mark does it seem to you that president obama is now kind of weighing in on controversial topics that maybe earlier in his presidency he didn't? >> precisely. i think you are seeing obama 2.0 in terms of these things. today it's weighing in on what the, kind of a professorial definition of rape. yesterday it was talking about the criminal justice system is broken. something that is obvious to those of us

joining me now is legal analyst ariva martin and former new york police officer and director of blackorcement alliance mark claxton. thank you both for being here. >> thanks rev. >> thank you, rev. >> mark from the description in that arrest report what could lead to a trooper being put on desk duty? >> to be honest with you, there's so much missing out of the narrative that it really poses more questions than answers. what were these circumstances that established whatever understanding of probable cause that this individual police officer have? what was the reason for instead of issuing a violation, a summons for a violation of law, did the police officer demand or require that ms. bland leave the vehicle? what were the circumstances? what led you to these charges in addition? there's so much open in that narrative that's of no value or little value. much more indicative of where they're going or what some of the problems or complications they're having or the statements made by the prosecutors as opposed to this police officer's own narrative. >> bland's family attorney says she re

joining me now is legal analyst ariva martin and paul henderson.nk you both for being here tonight. when i say officers, these are university of cincinnati officers, not cincinnati police officers. just so our viewers are clear. what's your reaction to these two officers not being charged with anything? >> well, i was a little surprised, reverend al, particularly how strong the district attorney came out with respect to the indictment and the charges filed against the officer that shot and killed sam dubose. i also had a chance to look at the police report. it's clear that one of the officers had arrived at the scene indicated that he saw tensing being dragged by the car and that he shot in response to that and that tensing was in fear of his life. so given the statements by these officers -- but i think what is probably happening here is that the district attorney wants to use these officers as witnesses to support the charges that have been filed, the murder charges that have been filed against the officer who did kill sam dubose, but it's a litt
