right now police are questioning a man in his 20s found in arlington national cemetery overnight. initially wasn't cooperating, which led to a massive sweep of the area. streets around the pentagon were closed off bringing traffic to a crawl. the bomb squad was brought in to check out a car found in the bushes. they didn't find anything dangerous inside but investigators are taking a closer look at what was in the man's backpack. cbs news reports that inside, black spray-paint, shell casings and a notebook with the words, al qaeda and taliban rules, written on it. >>> this afternoon the fbi has issued a new terror warning about a hit there's popped up on a jihadi website. potential targets include members of congress, journalists and individuals with links to the iraq war. as tina kraus reports, investigators believe the inspiration comes from an al qaeda member from los angeles. >>> reporter: a jihadi hit list is growing on the web with al qaeda extremists naming dozens of americans as terror targets. the fbi says the killing of osama bin laden has prompted more postings on sugge

meyer on the grounds of arlington national cemetery about 1:00 a.m. when police approached, the man fled. when he was eventually taken into custody and turned over to park police, he would not respond to questions. he was uncooperative. and in his backpack, we're told, there was some evidence that there were notes that mentioned al qaeda and/or taliban. eventually, their investigation led them to the man's vehicle parked near the pentagon, and it was thought there was a bomb inside and the arlington bomb squad was brought in. they even brought a water cannon to destroy any device. but in the end, no device was found. in the man's backpack they did find some suspicious substance in bags which they have not yet been able to identify. and really the investigation goes on to figure out exactly who this man is and what he was doing at arlington national cemetery in the middle of the night. >> that's right. and how did they -- what tipped them off that something was askew, jim? >> reporter: well, it was the initial spotting by ft. meyer police who patrol th

he was found inside arlington national cemetery at 1:30 this morning. an official says malaku had suspicious substances in his backpack, but tests showed the materials turned out to be harmless. malaku's mental health is being assessed. he's not been charged with any crime. >>> al qaeda's hit list is causing terror concerns. it names 40 people specifically. now the fbi has informed each of those people but has not released the list to the public in an effort to try to keep the targeted people safe. the names include members of the u.s. government, military, business, and even media. the terrorist web site threatens to send package bombs to the homes of the people who were named. >>> with osama bin laden dead and buried, the u.s. government is clearing its books of charges they have against him. a federal judge approved prosecutors' requests to dismiss criminal charge against the late terrorist. osama bin laden had been under indictment since 1998, and before the attack on america on september 11. those indictments came from terrorist attacks on two u.s.
