outside the flagpole here tonight at washington high school in fremont to remember their friend armando canales. they paint a picture of a kid who was loyal, selfless, who wanted to serve his country in the military and the community as a firefighter. canales was 17 years old. he was a junior here at washington high, played football for the school. he and four other teenage friends were heading south on highway 17 early saturday morning. they were going to hang out at the beach in santa cruz around 2:00 a.m. a wrong-way driver in a minivan crashed into the teens' toyota corolla. canales was killed in the back seat. the other teens were hurt, three seriously but none life-threatening. the wrong-way driver was treated at the hospital, then arrested on suspicion of felony dui and vehicular manslaughter. we just got her mugshot. she is 28-year-old ashley marie oliver, now in law enforcement custody. this morning washington high called in grief counselors to make them available for any students or staff who needed to talk to someone about what happened to armando. we met armando's friends outside mi
