now live from the newsroom with the apology from the chief heather alex and julie chief laurent armstrong says the weekend was so violent that officers had no time to respond to non violent crimes. and he was specifically referring to a cannabis business that was burglarized. earlier saturday morning. the owner of craft cannabis says thieves stole essentially all of the stores inventory about $100,000 worth of product. he says he went to the store after he was notified by his alarm system. but when he arrived, he was approached by one of the suspects with a gun. he soon left and hoped that oakland police would eventually show up, but they never did. i understand how important it is that we respond to business owners and help protect businesses. but i've always said the most important thing is the protection of life. and i apologize to the business owners that we did not have the resources to respond in a timely manner to their burglary. but every resource we had was dedicated to saving lives and protecting the community. the chief says at that time of the burglary officers were responding
