when i confronted chief arredondo he was standing behind chief arredondo at the school administrationilding and he's someone that the families are not happy with them. for them this is a day where they can take some pride in their fight. this community, this is certainly very shocking for them. they did not expect this. they have had no accountability, and to see this happen finally is such a relief for them, and, you know, it's moving. i got a chance to talk to some of them today, and, you know, they are just -- finally they feel like somebody is listening to them. their concerns are being heard and after so long when people have ignored them and not listened to them and i think this sends a message now to the other authorities who have resisted and provided information. this is going to come out and this is why they don't want it coming out because you'll have fall out and when you get down into what really happened here, it's far worse than what anyone can imagine, and i think it's going to come out and it's going to take more time and we'll see more fallout like that. they can kee

it took him a really long time to fire the former chief there, arredondo, and sort of set up this investigation of the police force and their response, the school police force. they have been very unhappy, at times calling for him to resign, for his resignation, as well. finally now word coming that he does intend to start the process of his retirement there in uvalde. he has been someone who's been part of this community his whole life. he was fairly well liked before all this happened. he's been with the community, he's been with the school for 31 years. his father was the superintendent before that. so people thought there was unfair process in terms of how he got the job. but certainly he could never imagine, you know, what he's faced in the last several months. and just the handling of all of this, how poor the school district has handled this, how they've disrespected these families. again, this is something families wanted. they were protesting outside that school all week. and now finally word comes that he is going to retire. it will be a process. it's not going to happen immediately.

much frustration pouring out, and not too long ago, the police chief of that school district, pete arredondoed. now the whole department is being suspended. we should note, it is not a very big department, of course, it is about five officers, and the security guard, and we do not know exactly what the developments were. it's not in that statement. but i can tell you within the past several days, there has been a brewing controversy in uvalde because a former dps trooper, that's the department of public safety, trooper, who we understand was under investigation for her actions during the massacre, or potentially lack thereof, she was hired, just within the past few days, by the school district, and when that came out, just about two days ago, she was then fired just yesterday. so this comes amid that controversy. the school district has released a statement, talking about what is coming up and how they do not believe that this will affect student safety. because now, essentially, the department of public safety will take over school security. still that raises a lot of questions and here's p
