guilty of making this mistake are, in fact, other faculty members who are the experts who are supposed to be doing the hiring, it is not primarily the fault of the bureaucrats or politicians, rather kinds of forces. i don't think there's any easy solution to this problem other than perhaps for people to be more aware of it and to try to be more conscious of the need to check their own thinking and if your own department is ideologically homogenous, maybe you want to make more use of outside experts who are more idealogically diverse, i think usually they don't make an effort to get ideological diversity among the outside referees which would be desirable to do that more often. so what can we do to alifeuate this problem? keith's book offers well-taken recommendations which i certainly agree with which is enforcing free speech rules on campus. also when stuintsz or outside people try to disrupt speakers or use violoans from prevent them from speaking, that should be prevented. i mentioned earlier already trying to promote nondiscrimination and faculty hiring, also when universities hold
