he will hoe -- hello, everyone, i'm arthel neville. >> i'm gregg jarrett. search teams are preparing for a third week scouring a remote stretch of the southern indian ocean. and they're battling strong currents and rough seas. after a chinese satellite spotted a large piece of floating debris in the area, suspected to be perhaps part of ill-fated flight 370. grn reporter roger maynard is joinings from sydney, australia. what's the latest on this? >> reporter: potentially this is one of the biggest developments in the past four days. the chinese say they've picked up what could have been debris in the southern ocean, about three days ago. but they still aren't confirming that. they say it's just a grainy image at this time and they're not saying one way or the other, whether it's linked to a malaysian airlines flight 370. however, this latest discovery could fit in with the likely drift of the earlier image which we had reported three or four days ago. this latest piece of debris is about 75 miles from the earlier sighting. so that could fit in with the like

i'm arthel neville. >> i'm gregg jarrett. the third possible clue in as many days. yesterday as you know, china releasing this satellite picture shoiing an object in the indian ocean very similar to images taken from the same area. released by australia just days before. so far, though, efforts to locate those objects have come up short. >> the description was a wooden pallet and a number of other items, which were nondescript around it and some belts, strapping belts of different legs. we tried to refine that yesterday with one of the new zealand aircraft and, unfortunately, they didn't find it. so, we've gone back to that area again today to try to refind it, but also continuing along with a methodical search along the rest of the area looking for these objects that are showing up in the satellitemi imagery to try give it some clues. >> let's go to david streaming live from bangkok, thailand. david, what's the latest? >> yes, a fresh lead in the search for this missing plane. france now says its satellites have spotted objects floating in the southern indian ocean

. >> i'm arthel neville. chinese state media reporting the three recovered objects are not the plane. david piper is streaming live from bangkok, thailand with the latest. >> more sightings of those objects floating in the southern indian ocean. no confirmation that debris from the missing plane. the chinese aircraft which reported the sightings said the objects are red, white and orange. china reporting none of the objects came from the missing plane. china has two ships in the search area with more on the way. more bad weather is forecast though. the location has changed after satellite data suggests that the plane had been traveling faster, thus burning more fuel. the new location near perth allows planes to search longer over the zone. earlier in the week, authorities said the new data showed there was no chance of anybody surviving as the plane must have run out of fuel and crashed in the indian ocean. today though, the acting transport minister seemed to contradict that by suggesting there was still hop
