shortly after 1:30 this morning they were called to the 3200 block of arthur court. when they got out there, they saw family members standing outside. they said that the man was inside with a gun and he was threatening to do harm to himself. at that point, they shut off the entire neighborhood. in fact, they had some evacuations of nearby homes. no indication how many homes were evacuated but the police department cordoned off the area and called in an emergency unit, basically, the s.w.a.t. unit. since then they've been trying to negotiate with the man. as i said, they confirmed he has a six-year-old daughter inside. as i said, we just finished a press conference with the san jose police department. let's hear what he has to say about this incident. >> the father was inside the home with the gun threatening to kill himself. we just learned recently that there is a six-year-old daughter in the home right now with the father. we are currently in constant contact with the father trying to get him to release the daughter. we have our merge team, which is our s.w.a.t. te
