"today in the bay's" arturo santiago is live on the scene. what do we know at this hour? >> reporter: there's still a good amount of activity taking place as police continue to investigation. take a look at the front end of this restaurant. there's a ladder that has been laid up against it. the police are using that ladder to kind of check out the wall -- the outside wall. apparently it seemed like they were looking for some kind of bullets or something. the forensics team is gathering evidence and processing the scene which could include video surveillance. they should be hard at work here for at least the next few hours. the shooting happened around 10:00 last night at the wang hand restaurant. when police arrived at the scene they found three victims. the three were taken to hospitals in the area to be treated. only one had what was considered to be life-threatening injuries. that victim died just after 2:00 this morning. >> right now we're reviewing some of the video footage, if any, and collecteding some of the evidence and processing the scene. >> reporter: sergeant

live in san jose, i'm arturo santiago, "today in the bay." >>> 6:03. a pittsburg woman recovering in the hospital after robbers broke into her house through her children's bedroom beating her up. bob redell is live on the scene with what the woman's husband it saying this morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura. he's wishing he would have been home at the time. mabel he could have saved his wife from the beating that she received. we have not been able to confirm this yet with pittsburgh police. we have a photographer on the scene who has spoken with thet% father. here is what he says happened. this is around 10:00 last night. it was about an hour after the father had gone to work when two men broke into his house on bending willow way in pittsburgh. they climbed through the second floor window on the back of the house. turns out it was the children's room. the men made their way through the room, woke the 6-year-old boy who stayed hidden underneath his blanket while his 4-year-old sister slept through it all. the two men made their way through the h

nbc bay area's arturo santiago is live in san jose with the big reveal of the bike sharing program. od morning, arturo. >> reporter: this is pretty cool. good morning, marla. this some phase one. talking about 280 bikes for santa clara county alone. there are hundreds more across the region. san jose mayor chuck reed threw thor is is mony y'all switch to launch the bay area bike share program. the 280 sea foam green bikes at 28 kiosk stakeses made their debut in san jose you mountain view and palo alto. the bikes are located near public transit hubs and high-density residential areas. the goal is to provide short distance transportation to and from the transit hubs there is also the potential to get more cars off the road and reduce traffic congestion. >> we are really excited about active transportation options, getting people on the street, walking, biking, taking public transit enlivens the community you makes it a great place to live, this is a good complement to those goals. >> we are going to be a very congested city before long. and so, having bike share here is another option

nbc bay area's arturo santiago live at the scene with the latest. he joins us. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura. police investigators that had been here all night long since the shooting happened cleared the scene a short time ago. they finished gathering evidence but it's stale very gory scene inside. now, nearly a dozen bullet holes are clearly visible on the outside of the restaurant cafe. just inside the door, there's a pool of blood that has yet to be cleaned up. now you around 10:00 last night with more than a dozen people inside, someone fired shots into the restaurant. when police arrived, they found three victims, one of them, a man in his 30s, had life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital early this morning. the two other victims were also taken to the hospital. at this point, investigators say the shooting appeared to be random. >> tell early in the investigation, they were just pay the trans inside the restaurant and somebody shot inside the business from outside. >> reporter: now, the restaurant normally opens at 4:00 in

"today in the bay's" arturo santiago live in the south bay with what investigators are currently looking for. >> reporter: good morning, jon. this morning the chp is still asking for help from the public in finding the driver who was involved in that hit and run. investigators say on saturday night someone hit and killed a man who was walking on alum rock avenue east of harriet avenue in san jose. some people saw a pickup truck leaving the scene heading north on pick ford avenue. the description is that the truck is a late model ford pickup, white or beige in colors with oversized tires and a red stripe on the hood. there would also be front end damage. traffic is not particularly heavy in the area and police are trying to find out more information about the victim. >> we have no description of the driver as it was 8:45 at n

"today in the bay's" arturo santiago is live in oakland where mcdonald's employees will begin their strike in less than a half hour. arturo, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. it is still quiet here. but we are expecting all that to change in about half an hour. as you said, this is where east bay fast food workers are scheduled to go on strike on the 2500 block of east 12th street in oakland. that's supposed to happen at around 6:30 this morning. they are not going to be alone. this is part of an unprecedented strike that's taking place in 35 cities across the country. the strikers want $15 an hour in wages, regular schedules, benefits and the right to form a union without retaliation. they're also calling for an end to what they call unfair labor practices. median workers make just over $8.00 an hour. according to the national restaurant association, only 5% of restaurant employees earn the minimum wage. those that do are predominantly working part time and half are teen ablers. >> it's so important because these are people that has family, that have kids, they need to support thei
