if you have information or saw anything, anne arundel county police want to hear from you. in fairfax county, a criminal investigation into a police officer and child pornography. the police were alerted via a cyber tip from the center for missing and exploited children. richard reeve has how the police are trying to figure out what happened and how long it went on. rich? richard: leon, shocked and stunned, that is how some officers are reacting privately. this is an active investigation. at the center of it, a 15 year veteran of the fairfax county police department. fairfax county police are investigating one of their own. authorities are calling it a criminal investigation involving child pornography. detectives with the child exploitation unit were contacted by the national center for missing and exploited children alexandria. they received a cyber tip through a blogging and social media website. child pornography had been uploaded to the service from a location in fairfax county. detectives began investigating monday, finding that it was a residence of a fairfax county

first, breaking developments from anne arundel county after an officer shoots a man in his home. roz plater is live in crofton with the details as the police wrap up a press conference. what did they tell you? roz: kimberly, this is still a developing story, but we have preliminary details. investigator still on the scene as they are trying to piece it together, interviewing neighbors and family members. anne arundel county police say their officers arrived at this home at about 130 in the afternoon, a quiet crofton called a sack. they had gotten a call from a family member who was outside of the home. they said the 21-year-old man inside was about to harm himself. when they arrived, they had to force their way in and at the top of the stairs was a 21-year-old holding what appeared to be a rifle, put it at the police. when he would not drop the weapon, one officer fired striking the man in his stomach. he was taken to shock trauma in critical condition. as this was going down, another family member was inside the home. officer: there was somebody else in the house. we are intervi

the wife of an anne arundel county police officer is responding after a second person was arrested in connection to her husband's shooting. corporal larry adams remains hospitalized four days after being shot while chasing a suspect friday morning. stephen tschida is in our newsroom with what we learned from police today. stephen? stephen: maureen, anne arundel county police arrested a woman over the weekend in connection with this shooting of corporal larry adams. they believe 29-year-old danielle blake intended to drive the getaway vehicle after a planned robbery of a 7-eleven. police say corporal adams disrupted that planned robbery and during the confrontation, they maintain 30-year-old corbin wright shot him. today, adams' wife expressed her thanks for all their support. >> i'm very overwhelmed to thank all the love and prayers. our immediate family, his family, we're very, very touched by all of your love. stephen: both white and blake are held without bond charged in connection with this shooting. meanwhile, corporal adams' condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

this is the first time an anne arundel county police officer has been shot in the line of duty since july of 2008. >>> the orange county sheriff is on a bit of the defensive tonight issuing an official response to our investigation into his agency, specifically into missing dashcam audio and to why his deputy threw a driver who had been pulled over a highway. here's our investigative reporter russ ptacek with the new side to this investigation. >> this is the statement issued today from that sheriff and for the first time a reason is offered as to why that deputy threw 53-year-old stuart fitzgerald onto the road. we know officers fumbled with fitzgerald's hands because he didn't release his cell phone. now for the first time the orange county sheriff's office says he was resisting arrest by preventing officers from handcuffing him. in a statement the sheriff also states how the agency claims fitzgerald attacked the officer. he says the deputy took fitzgerald to the ground to complete the handcuffing and this is when fitzgerald bit the deputy. fitzgerald later kicked the other officer

leon: anne arundel police are looking for a man that shot and wounded an officer overnight. that officer was at a 7-eleven when a customer alerted him to a suspicious person. when he confronted that person that person shot the officer once in the neck and then fled. alison: and a fairfax county police officer has been relieved from duty pending an investigation. northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg is in fairfax with new information in this developing story. jeff what can you tell us? jeff: yeah a lot of fast moving developments, alison we brought you this story at the top of our 5:00 newscast and minutes later, the fairfax county police department putting out a press release about the situation saying a fairfax county officer was relieved of duty yesterday based on a criminal investigation into child pornography. now, here is what they were -- they are telling us at this moment. fairfax police say that detectives within the child exploitation unit were contacted by the national center for missing and exploited children. that group had been provided with a cyber tip

kimberly: a police officer in anne arundel county remains in critical condition tonight after a shooting. corporal larry adams was wounded while chasing a suspect friday morning. that suspect from annapolis is now in custody. white faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and robbery. he is currently being held without bond. a vigil is scheduled for 7:00 at cape sinclair, maryland, to show support for adams and his family. a manhunt in prince william county after a woman was abducted. the police are looking for this man. they say that he forced his way into an apartment in manassas. this was early this morning. he was carrying a kitchen knife and took the 25-year-old woman. it's not clear if they drove off or left on foot. if you have information, call the police. a high school student from prince george's county died while returning from a field trip to washington, d.c. officials say the 16-year-old from bo we high stopped breathing on the bus ride home early this morning. cpr was performed, but the teenager and not survive. it is not clear what calls the medical emergency. a
