our experience in anne arundel county. we still have an important piece in the rural southern part of a county that is in his district. i am very pleased to be here. i have been back on this job since june 1. i have served as health officer for 15 years prior to going to the state. we tackled things like 9/11, anthrax, tropical storm isabel, h1n1 and a lot of the public health emergencies. it was an overwhelming shock to me coming back on june 1 to see what has happened to my county in terms of opioids. it is the third jurisdiction in the state with regard to fatalities behind baltimore city and baltimore county and that is disproportionate to our population. 943 overdoses, 134 were fatal. our fatalities are generally male, between 30 and 34. -- 20-34. the impact on household and children is enormous. people, moreng our than 50% of these fatalities involve fentanyl. i am proud to be on a team where the health and the enforcement team have to be joined at the hip. in anne arundel, we absolutely are under the leadership of o
