for the latest, here is cnn's arwa damon. there have been large numbers of people taking to the streets throughout the palestinian territories. with that comes a growing toll of those who are wounded and those who are killed. in the gaza strip, there was one 29-year-old man who was shot in the scene of some of the more intense back and forth that took place between rioters and the israeli defense forces. a 19-year-old university student stabbed an israeli border policemen in the shoulder before he was shot and later died of his wounds. there is a sense that jt upcoming days and weeks ahead, things are going to become even more confrontational and there is a very intense conversation happening between the palestinian leadership, palestinian president mahmoud abbas, various different regional leaders as they try to figure out the best way forward and how to capitalize on this momentum that they believe they have, not necessarily talking about momentum in the streets, but on a global level. they urged other leaders to do so, as

arwa damon joins us. what do we know at this point? >> reporter: well, the attack took place at a cultural center where around 100 people were gathered inside a room or a hall. they were marking the russian invasion of afghanistan, and this suicide bomber managed to infiltrate the gathering and then detonated the explosives. this was then followed by two other smaller explosions. given the space where the attack took place, that presumably is one of the leading reasons why the casualty, the death and toll and that of those wounded is so high. isis has claimed responsibility at this stage. it's worth noting that the attacks in afghanistan, whether it's in the capital or elsewhere, whether it's against the civilian population or the afgh afghan security forces has really been on the rise since the attack in kabul over the summer that killed around 150 people. of course, what is especially devastating to the afghan population is not just the lost of live, the impact these attacks have on those wounded and their families, and it's also the
