we make a mistake when we as an institution make it a personal flight with people -- personal fight witheople in the government. we need to be dispassionate about our role in things. two things that we all know in this room, the changes in the industry make finding business models that hurt -- that worked a huge challenge. the reality is when things are changing, when digital is such a big part of our lives, we can get away from the fundamental first principles of what we do and why we do it. starting with the first amendment and being self guardians of that trust. and we need to do this joyfully. politicians do better when they are happy warriors and i think we do too. when we get caught up in apocalyptically negative and get talking about like the republic is going to end, i don't think we serve our profession well. we can be happy warriors while we fight for the first amendment. we can do it in a way that reflects the best of america and the best of america to me is to be optimistic about the future, not to be dark, we need to be vigilant and we need to do it on a smile. i am on her t
