let's face it -- we should know, especially in san francisco, that as human beings, we are not really comfortable with sex. some of us do not even know who we are, right? from day to day, right? you know, i mean, sex is a very complicated issue. the idea that sexual behavior and people's aberrations with it or problems with it or confusions should send them to present for life sentences. in wisconsin, they have the same thing in iowa and illinois -- actually have built prisons just for sex offenders. can you imagine? the entire prison are sex offenders, mostly young men. that is what they are. young men who are confused about their sexuality. as my son was or your son was. i'm going to continue with this, just some of the suggestions we have had. get rid of the word "officer." you have police officers -- isn't that enough? we have, like, 2 million of them. it should be social workers, correctional workers. parole workers. get rid of parole officers and probation officers all together. i call them resource centers so that when somebody comes out of jail or prison, that it would not mat

that we as human beings can help other human beings make their circumstances better, depend themselves and maintain human dignity in the face of onslaughts that come from every angle. we are blessed to do this work. we should never be ashamed to be public defenders. we should always be proud of what it is that we do for people and in fact, what they return to us. we are made better by the work that we do and may god bless all of your efforts. thank you. i cannot encourage you more as a human being to come down and experience it. i don't say that as a representative of an organization to come down. i don't say that as a community leader to come down. i say that as a human being that wants to experience something ennobling and enlightning and remarkable that is thousands of homeless people; nameless faceless people. folks you drive by and folks you step over, folks you simply turn your back oftentimes to for no negative reason but because you are moving on with your life and to come here and find a sense of hope and dignity. thousands of volunteers try to connect with them in a real way. people who have their feet washed which is a remarkable thing and have a pe diatryst there to help solve problems with their feet. we have folks volunteering and giving away eye exams and eye glasses. folks with wheel chairs that can't afford to have their chairings fixed. this is like a mechanic's station for wheel chairs. having seen those folks get those wheel chairs f. fixed. we had a dental exam on site. we connected all th

as jewish americans, we're not them the spokes people for israel. we're human beings, and as a human being, i work for justice. a lot of jewish americans here do work for justice. these organizations, while they're still small and gaining more momentum, they are continually growing, and hopefully, they'll start to make bigger impact. >> organizations provide training for non-violence in the west bank and gaza. we don't here a great deal here about the non-violent movements in the palestinian territories. tell us about them. >> the non-violent movement, peaceful resistance movement has been going on for a very long time. dr. lafayette, who was a colleague of dr. martin luther king during the civil lights movement in this country has been to palestine and done training for love thigh neighbor. they have trained many individuals throughout the west bank in non-violent training. this past october, we went to ramallah, and one week, we did a leadership training with the graduates of the king and non-violence training. those participants were well-schooled in the principles
