i'm zain asher. we're going to begin in the u.s. city of ferguson, missouri where people are on edge waiting for the grand jury to decide the fate of a white police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager. it's a story we've been following for the past three months. the 12-member panel is debating whether or not to charge the officer with a crime. president obama and the teen's family are urging everyone to stay calm no matter what the jury decides. >> the grand jury's decision is imminent on whether or not to indict officer darren wilson in the killing of mike. brown. even as the grand jury debated wilson's fate. ahead of that, cnn sources say officer wilson is in final negotiations with the city to resign. wilson reportedly expressed concern about resigning while the grand jury is hearing evidence. wilson's regular nation would mean nothing to protesters if they don't get indictment and arrest. >> the cray of the people is overwhelming. democracy the cry of the people and all we're as

i'm george howell. >> and i'm zain asher. >> we begin with the state of hosni muir bebarak. >> he'd been awaiting verdicts on a corruption case as well as a murder conspiracy case. you can see mubarak's reaction there as well. the murder case had to do with the deaths on the anti-egypt's uprising in 2011. that's the very election that led to mubarak's resignation after 30 years of the president. joining us is cnn's ian lee. ian, you were there to see the reaction of former president mubarak. what could you tell from this reaction and people around him? >> reporter: well, george, mubarak and his supporters seem vicinity indicat vindicated today. don't expect to see the former president walking anytime soon. he's still serving time on charges if he's found guilty. but those charges run out next year. it's likely that he will be set free once that happens. for many egyptians, though, around the country, they're shocked right now with this verdict. a lot of people wanted to see mubarak held accountable for the deaths, over 800 de

let's get straight to our top stories, i'm zain asher. the u.s. state department says it is still taking steps forward in nuclear talks with iran. and is focused on an agreement. an iranian official involved in the talks says reach a deal by monday is, quote, impossible. that's according to a news agency in iran. negotiators have been scrambling all weekend to come to an agreement but sticking points remain. for more on this i'm joined by nic robertson, live for us in vienna. nic, obviously there's only 36 hours to go for this dead lien. how hopeful are we that we're going to see a deal within that time? >> reporter: i don't think optimism is high at the moment. secretary of state john kerry has gone into his fifth meeting with the head of the delegation, zarif and head of the eu delegation. while these meetings make progress, they're only chipping away at the big issues and that there's a real sense that the iranians still have to make big decisions at the moment. the best analysis we've heard on how everything is going so far came from the u.s.

i'm zain asher. in australia a record breaking heat wave has temperatures soaring but at the g-20 summit it's been a cold reception for vladimir putin. they're trying to find ways to boost the economy among many things but attention is focused on russia's military intervention in eastern ukraine. jim, russia and ukraine clearly in the spotlight. i know that vladimir putin described the sanctions as pointless and harmful. do we know if there's plans for them to meet on the sidelines of the g20 summit given how pressing this issue is? >> right. senior administration officials do point out that the saturday and vladimir putin did meet on the sidelines of the summit in china. we're not clear whether or not that will happen again here in australia but i've been told by administration official that that is possible. so we're going to have to wait and see. they were in the same room earlier today but you can just look at the headline in the local newspaper in australia. ice cold war and it shows a russian b
