florida attorney general ashley moody joins us now.oming your curiosity on what took place in your state? >> well, of course. this is a suit we hope to avoid. but, it had become absolutely necessary from a little over a month ago when that second assassination attempt happened. if you remember, governor desantis was very clear. he wanted florida to move forward with an independent investigation of state crime. working with the federal government, of course, he felt that was in the best interest of this state. our sovereignty, and for the american people as there are concerns that the same federal agencies investigating the assassination attempt are the ones that are seeking to go after and prosecute the president. the victim in this case. and so, we hope that this would not -- this day would not come. but at every turn, as we have moved forward with our investigation. they have attempted to frustrate that and, in fact, it came down to them stating that they were suspending state jurisdiction, which would indefinitely put our investigat

let's bring in a florida attorney general ashley moody. thank you very much.general, what exactly are we learning about these people involved in these crimes? >> it is a gut punch to law enforcement who is working so hard around the clock to help their communities rebuild and protect and many of these areas in this one specific county you are referring to that has been the hardest hit from hurricane helene and hurricane milton, the sheriff announced that it wasn't just the ones that they arrested for eluding related crimes. from robbery, burglary, trespassing. those related crimes. even almost 200 others that they couldn't get probable cause on to arrest, they knew were up to no good. they didn't arrest them and most of those were here illegally. it is a challenge to a state like ours where we are committed. we are a law and order state and we will protect our communities. we have instituted extra proposals. we call them anti-looting patrols in the wake of hurricanes. to be faced with this really avoidable issue of having people here committing crimes if it we

joining us now is florida's attorney general ashley moody. . ashley your warning echoed that of the taylor county sheriff in helene he said write on your arm to be identified. my family left tampa yesterday said it's a ghost town. do you believe people have heeded these very stark warnings? >> well, florida, as you know, just experienced a destructive hurricane in less than two weeks we're on the heels of hurricane helene and i can tell you, standing with law enforcement officials, in the aftermath of that destructive hurricane, seeing a concrete slab where a house once stood or looking at a home that is crumbled and talking to a sheriff that said we had a thousand calls for help, we knew where to go because there comes a point where we can't get out there and rescue people we take down where that call's coming from we go straight there and that's when we see what happened when someone chose to stay in one of these areas that we've asked folks to evacuate. so i think coming off helene, many of us are imploring, based on what we've seen and wit
