our political panel here to weigh in, senior political reporter ashley pratt, and republican strategist and former communications aide to the mccain/palin campaign, boris eckstein. thank you both for joining us. >> of course. >> very exciting night. we're still waiting for missouri. you heard ted cruz speaking there. he's already declaring that it is a two-man race, but there are three still in the race. so ashley, what's your biggest surprise? anything that surprised you? >> it's not surprising that marco rubio lost florida. i think it was upsetting more than anything the margin that he lost by. i do think the biggest surprise there, however, was that he did come out and suspend his campaign. something that no one was really expecting given the fact that he said he would be staying in this race until the convention, even if he lost his home state of florida. so i do think that was the biggest surprise out of the night. but again, i think very much this is a two-man race, even though kasich is still in, and won ohio. at this point, again, marco rubio i think biggest surprise of the nigh

lizette senior political reporter ashley pratte. tony, you herd speaker just then.he said what romney did today was hurting republican party. do you agree or disagree? >> in large part i do. i think ironically helps donald trump which i don't think the purpose of governor romney's speech and remarks today. look the other aspects people are getting wrong is the analysis. this idea that donald trump is fatally flawed and can't be hillary clinton is seriously false. i have miss giveses about his conservative bonefides and his temperis in play is and his natural strengths, that can't be bought. those are greatest inabilities to clinton. all wall street and super pack dollars supporting her and 30-year institution in washington, hillary clinton is poster-child of what romney is saying. david: ashley, what about mitt romney's comments, specifically going after donald trump? there were two mitt rom necessary. one was back in 2012 as newt was just saying talking about a wonderful success he was as a businessman. >> and this one. david: the other mitt romney today is saying

ashley pratt, what do you make of that? >> i think that it is interesting, neil.e mainstream media left out of that was the organizations that were orchestrating them. a lot of other radical progressive groups that were organizing these mass protests and asking them to get tickets. they want to shut it down. the mainstream media really wanting to cover this fairly. his kids are now being threatened. it is not even a candidate anymore. neil: insult to injury. groups coming together. i do not care what you think of mister trump or whatever. combining resources to talk about planned protest that donald trump events. they are spending money to coordinate protests. they are free to do that. you know that that is a prescription for trouble. they are conservative groups. they would be like, it you know what. >> you know that that is what you would be reported on. ganging up on liberals. it took them a few days. these groups were organizing to do this to tromp. stop the events from even happening. free speech is now under fire. this has been something happening on college

ashley pratte and brad woodhouse. welcome to you both. e you this morning. >> morning. >> ashley, this convention could be a fight and looks like donald trump just put a fairly forceful person on his side. >> he did but this is something, martha, that i think a lot of strategists have been saying he should have done about eight months ago. he should have been really focusing what this would look like because the establishment is not going to let him take the nomination easily. that has been very clear by strategists, by gop elites who come out and said he will not be our nominee essentially. they will push ted cruz as far as they can to contested convention. so i do think this might be a little too late but he is a very forceful player when it comes to this and i don't think trump's persuasive powers can be denied at contested convention. i think after louisiana and hearing threats of trump wanting to sue cruz for delegates swinging this way, this is why something like this has now happened. martha: brad, taking a look across the fence for

ashley pratt on whether these attacks are registering or go too far. >> i think in florida of rubio will have a tough shot. we did see a new poll come out yesterday that shows that the senator is only down 8.2 donald trump. neil: i don't understand that poll. >> a lot of people didn't. the question i asked in the first segment whether it is rubio searching, trump following a little bit of both. >> i think it's a little bit of both. we're definitely starting to see the anti-trump sentiment among voters that were starting to say that reflect in and pulled them different states. it hasn't been very accurate lately and not capturing the sentiment out there. at the same time if they use the money to spend on ads in florida to target rubio, i'm sure the businessman would make a decision he didn't think was a sure bet. florida is very much in play. rubio has the potential to be embarrassed. his political survival is. so doesn't ted cruz. that is why we see that ted cruz super pac come out and spend a fellow mistake to put out ads against the florida senator. this is a make or break moment what

ashley pratte and lachlan markey if the big endorsements even matter.e, do you want jeb's name associated with you at this point in the race? >> i think if endorsements really mattered all that much rubio would still be in the base because he was running away in the endorsement game but i think it does signal a larger shift in ted cruz's favor and against donald trump from major supporters in the pro-israel community. i think after trump's aipac speech, he tried to put those fears at ease but i don't think it is coincidence for first time he was using a teleprompter. when he is going off-the-cuff and talks about israel he tends to alienate a lot of people very supportive of the jewish state and make up a very big part of the republican base. charles: so are these -- maybe i'm missing something, ashley. are these specifically jewish donors? how did aipac get this? >> these two specifically, they used to be bush supporters. one i believe leads the republican jewish coalition or has some influence there. charles: okay. >> that is how aipac comes into this.
