ashley: we g some earnings news for you. shares of ross stores jumping almost 2% after-hours. the discount retail chain reporting better-than-expected earnings of the company reported same-store sales up 4%. also projecting same-store sales next quarter to grow between is and 2%. talking about retail, tech companies, not only ones seeing job cuts because of technology shifts. according to an analyst of jpmorgan, the retail industry lost potentially 1.2 million jobs thanks to explosion of e-commerce giant like amazon and jet.com. john, let me talk to you about this. it can only get worse as technology advances, more humans, effectively being replaced, right? >> expect that for high technology. look at recent cutbacks announced by cisco. these were supposed to be the jobs of the future a couple of years ago. scratching my head, trying to figure out, why in the world we still get pretty decent reads on payrolls? unfortunately i think that is going to change for the worse by year's end. ashley: that is interesting. scott, you say this could well be the canary in the coal mine, and
