jennifer ashton thank you so much. now to the tragedy over the skies of new york city. nine people killed saturday when a small plane and a helicopter collided and plunged into the hudson river. today police found a man's body in the wreckage of the plane but could not dislodge it. bob orr is following the story. >> reporter: new york city police divers working in strong currents and low visibility, pinpointed the wreckage of the small plane about 650 feet below the surface of the hudson river. as recovery crews prepared to lift the aircraft from the water, 911 calls were released revealing multiple eye witnesses saw the plane and a sightseeing helicopter collide in midair. >> an airplane just hit a helicopter. the helicopter went down into the water. the plane, i'm not sure what happened, where it is. >> i saw the last of it. and i saw something explode and then something fall after that. so i would hurry. >> but there was no rescue. all six people on the chopper and the three on the plane died. remnants of the helicopter now have been recovered and eight of the bodies

jennifer ashton. good morning. >> good morning, maggie. >> that seems surprising to me.ysicians are have known for quite some time that sleep apnea is not good for you. but this is the first time that numbers were put to the actual risk. 46% increased risk of death for those people who had more than 30 episodes of disorders sleep per hour. that's a huge number. >> that means it's not something we can afford to ignore. what exactly is sleep apnea? >> when someone is sleeping, there's a soft tissue part in the back of the throat, in the upper airway, that can collapse, blocking the passage of air in and out. when that happens, the blood oxygen levels drop, and therefore you kind of wake up with a start. if that happens once, it's really not a problem. but it doesn't just happen once, it happens repeatedly. again, over the course of the night, as little as 11 minutes of this type of episode can really increase the risk of death. >> what are some symptoms we should be looking for? >> there's a couple of things. number one, snoring. we're not talking about a little bit of sno

jennifer ashton explains. >> reporter: former fire chief thomas r. was 54 years old when abdominal pain sent him to the doctor. he was shocked to hear, you have colon cancer. >> i'm certainly willing to try anything. >> reporter: a new study out tonight shows that something as simple as aspirin may help with his fight. the study looked at over 1200 colon cancer patients. those who took aspirin as few as two adult aspirin per week after their diagnosis, reduced their risk of dying of the disease by 29%. the use of aspirin may turn out to have a very significant benefit in terms of improving survival. report more than 80% of cone lon cancer tumors produce an enzyme called cox 2 which triggers the cancer cells to grow. the theory is that aspirin blocks cox 2, preventing the cancer from spreading. today tom is finishing his last round of chemotherapy and is feeling strong. he's excited by the possibility that something found in most medicine cabinets might be able to help him and other patients fighting colon cancer. >> if aspirin will help, i'm going to

jennifer ashton is here with some new guidelines.> so we should say, whether it's a big business or a small business, they're all getting ready right now. what are they doing? >> that's right. the key the government is doing, jeff, is anticipation preparedness to mobilize their resources and put it in action now. to get there, they suggested planning on things to limit face to face meeting time and travel spacing employees farther apart at work if you work in close proximity to other people encouraging their employees to get the h1n1 as well as the seasonal flu vaccine, and even having employees work from home if it's possible. obviously, not always possible in every case. >> we should mention, though even if businesses do all of this there will be cases of h1n1, and there will be cases of the seasonal flu. >> and estimates are that this could impact 30% of the u.s. population and 30% of the workforce. these guidelines also bring to bear people should start planning, not just employers but employees. you should ask your boss what pla
