in a 2012 asian-americans survey it shows 76% of asian-americans support affirmative-action policies.is: they are beings heard up. there is a bunch of money. i have seen these commercials that really are about the business of trying to seek out asian-americans who have a beef against the system that my sense is can be used in cases, lawsuits to come in the future that would make this more contentious and it already is. >> that's an excellent point. i think asian-americans haven't always been behind these beefs. they are very deliberate attempt to use asian-americans as a wedge against affirmative action and to pitt asian-americans against underrepresented minorities like latino americans and african americans and native americans. i would like to underscore the point that the vast authority of asian-americans actually support affirmative-action helices. tavis: what are we -- affirmative-action policies. >> what are we missing when we look at it from a sociologist perspective? fax i think sociologist has a lot to offer. when most americans think about affirmative action the first ingot

my name is gary mccluer and i'm here to represent wonderful program called asian neighborhood design construction training program that we teach students how to install solar panel for going green. each cycle, we have about 70% of our students that come from low-income and housing authority and about maybe 60 to 70% of them have been incarcerated and in jail. my job is for me to stay in their life for at least one year due to our record, 70% of them after one year continue to work. so, what we want to do, we want to work with the sheriff's department. they want to release some funds to us to train people coming out of jail. i don't know how much it costs a year to house an inmate, but let's give a ballpark number. let's say $50,000 a year which they can come to asian neighborhood design for $5,000 and we are not guaranteeing them, but we will put them on a path where they wouldn't have to be incarcerated at least a year that i know. and if you guys can take a look at that right there and help asian neighborhood design continue to do the good work that they do out in the community. an
